As someone who has no plans to start a blog etc. it’s still so interesting to understand more about what goes on behind the scenes and the hard work it entails. I also really appreciate the honesty and the generosity in helping others who do want to do this. I’m 41 (going on 25!) and potentially outside of your age demographic however you’ve become one of my favourite bloggers (only partially because I also have 2 chi’s!)... Your humour (and Simon’s) and politeness with your audience is equal to the great content itself. I very rarely leave comments however the couple of times I have on other blogs and was ignored left me feeling like an idiot groupie, especially when it was only in response to a question raised so I think it’s positive you take that into account. Keep the fab posts coming 😊👌 x

Holy crap. You just sent me down a rat hole for the last hour googling about Instagram hashtagging, tags, keywording, etc. I got a little peek behind the curtain into how one has to be constantly active on Instagram at peek times for your audience if Instagram is part of your brand. As a private account holder, as in I’m my only audience 😜 (my job is 100% unrelated. I love photography, fashion, food, interiors, my pets so I use Instagram as my Photo album), I wonder if I’m missing out on connecting with people? Then I wonder if that question is just weird-because social media is kind of foreign to me as an introvert. Whatevs--loving this series of videos!!!!! 😻

Kelly Hill I don’t think it’s not an option but there is a huge difference between KZbin and blogging. KZbin is very full on and it’s not for everyone, I even struggle with elements of it from time to time. It’s harsh, but rewarding. They key is to do something because you love it, not to do something just to make money/be successful, as people will see right through that. People want authenticity and personality ❤️

Hi Emma, thank you for another fabulous and informative video. I would like to invest in a camera primarily for vlogging, previously you had recommended the Canon Powershot G7 X Mk II. Do you still recommend this camera for vlogging? Do you prefer the Olympus Pen EPL-8 Camera for blogging photos? Thank you Angela

Angela Aggarwal the G7x mkII is the only camera I would recommend for vlogging, the proof is in the pudding, all youtubers use it 🙌🏼 I used to use a pen a few years ago, it’s a great camera and perfect for bloggers in so many ways, plus very affordable and with the interchangeable lenses you can create a whole range of images. But I just kept upgrading to the next level and then the next and now I can’t live without my Canon ❤️ it creates a decent deferent kind of image which I just love 🙌🏼

Darya Belsner nooooooo you tag them in your image not the caption 🙈 The album feature is the ability to post multiple pictures at once in the same post. They appear as a swipe function so you can swipe though them like flipping through an album. You can do then when you go to the upload a new post section on instagram. There are 3 small logos in the corner of the right hand side when you select the image to upload. You want the one on the end, far right, it looks like 2 squares layered on top of each other. Then you can select multiple images 👍🏼

I am so glad that a successful blogger is actually trying to help others! I feel like everyone tries to keep how they became successful secret and they don't want to give away tips on how to grow because they see it as more competition. I have way too many comments/questions to squeeze them all in here but my biggest question would be do you have any tips specifically for small IG accounts (like I have less than 400 followers)? I have a really hard time getting noticed because of how small my page, in fact I'll have brands that were featured in the post like it but I never get reposted (by brands that repost) because my following is so low plus IG algorithm does nothing to help the little people. I find that in order to get any likes I have to use an excessive amount of hashtags so I just chuck them in the comments section instead of in the caption. I just created a business Facebook page so I can get the analytics so hopefully that will help me some but I just find Instagram so hard to navigate with the way it operates right now as a small account - and I know some bigger companies are even struggling as well.

Heather A. Turner you can add hashtags in the comments but still if you use too many your image will be treated as spam and it won’t be made visible. It’s really all down to the quality of content in terms of regrams from brands. They have to really love an image and it must fit with their brand and their feed for a regram. In all honesty it’s tricky for me to comment on lower followings because it’s been a few years since I was on those numbers and Instagram has changed a lot. I’m also not going to sugar coat it but it’s very tough out there. So many people are creating beautiful imagery on insta so there’s a lot of other content to ‘compete’ with and more often than not people will only hit that follow button if you have a higher following, it just seems to be the mentality of people these days. It’s about being different, unique and drawing people in that way 👍🏼

I struggle with flow of images sometimes but I would say my imagery is pretty good quality seeing as how I have a degree in photography but I'm definitely not consistent enough and my feed isn't very cohesive (it was a lot better when I was traveling more). I'm going to challenge myself to post more frequently and see if that helps because I know consistency is huge and I can be a bit streaky. I understand the mentality of only following accounts with a large following because I definitely fall for that as well, it's just hard being on the receiving end of it. Thanks for your advice/tips!
