LML, I have a quick question. Do you think GRRM really put so much mythology into ASOIAF or do you feel as though you overanalyze some things? It's a legit question and in no way am I trying to say you're wrong. I just love your theories and if George really put this much thought into his books, it's mind blowing. To make so many connections to mythology like that is pretty amazing to me.

Still chuckling at the music 💜 Other evidence that the Nightfort predates the wall, is that the steps there go up the side of the castle & not up the Wall like they do at all the other Forts. Edit: the steps are cut into the ice of the wall - which is different to all the other forts which have wooden steps attached.

Book - so checked my notes - my mistake - the steps are actually cut into the ice of the wall rather rather than the wall itself which could still be evidence - as it seems that it is the only castle where this is the case which makes it different. I'll find the reference for you.

Right - here you go - ' He remembered Maester Luwin saying the Nightfort was the only castle where the steps had been cut from the ice of the Wall itself. Or maybe it had been Uncle Benjen. The newer castles had wooden steps, or stone ones, or long ramps of earth and gravel. Ice is too treacherous. It was his uncle who’d told him that. He said that the outer surface of the Wall wept icy tears sometimes, though the core inside stayed frozen hard as rock. The steps must have melted and refrozen a thousand times since the last black brothers left the castle, and every time they did they shrunk a little and got smoother and rounder and more treacherous.' BRAN IV ASOS It definitely marks out the Nightfort as different from the others imo. I will edit my original comment to reflect this so people don'y take my ramblings as fact!

So if you could answer this question that cropped up on me while I was listening to these. (grumpy mind on my own writing. its a bummer when your make believe world doesn't wash with reality and so escaping into your head cannon) Now your theory goes that NN dies and calls the comet, moon destruction, impact and long night. AA taints the green magic. Now here is my question. Would both AA and NN be the sources of what I see as a source of corruption in the "weirwood wifi" that gives us fire=red=AA when he survived the death of NN and so humans see him either as the one who caused the bad event as well as the one who needed to save them (humans) by killing NN so he could gain the knowledge for humans to get a leg up on the green men. So with NN dead and being an original green person she would go into the green sea but because she did something sacrilegious to them she is exiled from the green sea afterlife and so it was her exile that causes her to create the Others? Her anger and heart break and pain I could see tainting the weirwood wifi. A broken heart is said to freeze. Is that along how you see it happening? Is this how we get the 3 levels of the green see magic fracturing? If so I am glad to he on the same page. If not tell me how far off base my brain took this. Oh and NN would get blue, moon ice symbols for her spawn.

I hope this is the right format to ask you a QUESTION. The children refer to some of their kind to one that sings the songs and these norms are also their greenseers. Does that mean that they could have gotten inside of Raegal and controlled him (which is an abomination) that also got to Lyana which made her cry the first time she ever heard him sing? And if that is true, then it wouldn’t be R + L that actually help start the war of the 5 kings, and also made Robert lie, it would be the children of the forrest that actually started this from the beginning? That would also mean that they set all the other in the motion with Jon being conceived. I am doing my second reread of the books and I don’t know that I ever heard any one ever ask that question. I have a 2nd question. Reading a book about Merlin, he talks of a beast that King Arthur encounters called the questing beast. It just reminds me of the dire wolves. Do you think there is a connection?

Lesha, hi, thanks for listening and questioning. So I myself do not subscribe to theories about people secretly being possessed by other people. I just don' think Martin is doing anything that wild. In particular, the motivation of Rhaegar and Lyanna would be greatly cheapened if it turns out they were not responsible for their own actions. I'd have to read up on the questing beast, I don't my Arthurian myth very well tbh. What's the deal with those?
