watching this now makes me wonder if grrm wrote about aemond (one-eye) with euron's arc in mind. the whole eyepatch/gemstone eye thing for one but also with how aemond 'steals' a dragon (one of the original three that coordinates to dany's) and ultimately dies at the hands of someone whose line dany & jon come from. and whilst hotd is its own entity separate from book canon, given they've made alys rivers seemingly aware about what is to come, i wonder if there's any chance she could have sold aemond on the idea he was to fufill euron's role as a godlike figure. perhaps it's coincidental but food for thought nonetheless.

1:08.00 just blew my mind. Yakusa cut off the little finger to remove honor, Little Finger has no honor, Davos has little fingers for his dishonored past, but he lost them to atone and regain his honor through loyalty and service. Just WOW!

Whenever you guys talk about the Nissa Nissa symbolism involving Azor Ahai plunging his 'sword' deep into her 'heart', and NN's scream as she dies, I can't help but feel like you're right about the impregnation symbolism, but I don't often recall you coming to the logical conclusion that it's also BIRTH symbolism. NN screams as Lightbringer is brought into the world; she's dying in childbirth - Lightbringer is her hybrid child, who I predict is the ancestor of whoever ends up being the 'real' Prince That Was Promised

I'm not even convinced that Billy's cannibalism wasn't actually working. He certainly underwent some physical changes visually, and became strong enough to take two point blank shotgun blasts, a three story fall, and still have the strength to lunge at someone and stick a knife in their eye several minutes later. That doesn't seem at all normal to me.

I know it's normal to dunk on the show these days but credit where it's due. In my opinion, my most favorite moment in season 6 is not the battle of bastards or the bombing of the sept, but the "King's Landing" scene (Tommen jumping off the window). First, it's a nice pun to the city name. Second, it's a narratively satisfying payoff to the "Winterfell" scene (Jaime pushing Bran down the tower). After everything that the Lannisters did to protect their children, like assassination, political maneuvering and genocides (mainly against House Stark and House Martell), their actions ended up killing their own kids instead. All those war crimes they committed didn't really matter in the end. Jaime crippled Bran, robbing him of the ability to walk and his future, just so that his youngest boy to kill himself anyway in the very same manner. A poetic (in)justice.

@@nont18411 I think most folks here were more just disapointed. I took no joy in it as I loved the show often and well in the early-mid seasons. And I appreciate you sharing your take on it cause you're right, it is way more common to see ppl make fun of it

@@nont18411 The prophecy that haunted Cersei all her life was ultimately fulfilled by her own hand. Tommen was a victim both of unruly bannermen and schemers, but of his own mother. It pained me to see what happened with him cause he really was just a kid who had amoral people manipulating him from literally day 1
@ThommyofThenn11 сағат бұрын
@@nont18411 and obviously Jaime shoving a child out a window is a purely evil action but in the context of the entire story,would Bran have joined Bloodraven and fulfilled his ultimate destiny? Again, I'm not defending or trying to justify Jaime's objectively wicked actions but maybe it was one of those ugly things that "needed" to happen to have all the pieces fall where they had to be
@nont1841111 сағат бұрын
@@ThommyofThenn Bloodraven is a slave of weirwood net. He wants Bran to be here as his replacement so it's kinda sucks for Bran. Jaime robbed Bran of his future and made him a weirwood net slave in the process. This action of Jaime is objectively evil. Yes, he killed Aerys and saved millions of people but like Stannis said, his evil acts should be considered separately from his heroic acts. Nothing can cancel out one another.

What if the tree burnings that were said to have taken place after the first man landed in westeros werenot the result of a war between the first men and the children of the forest but rather intertribal warfare Where in if a first man tribe defeated another in battle they would burn their tree as a sort of a "haha our tree God is stronger than your tree God!" thing

The audiobook is narrated by the guy who played Ser Rodrick Cassel in the show. I thought he did a FANTASTIC job even though he mispronounced a few town names like Dubuque (I am an Iowan so hearing it pronounced wrong was a little jarring, but oh well). His acting was masterful. His accents were 100% on point. Well worth the Audible credit I spent to listen to it. I actually felt a little bad for Sour Billy, the scum that he was. He was played so hard by Damon Julian. Abner showed up and started BLASTIN'!. He got what he deserved in the end. Thank you guys for the great recommendation. This is the first book club I've ever actively participated in, and I loved it. Well done!
