I for one love the Blue Scribes. They are my favorite Warhammer characters and what got me both interested in Tzeentch as well as starting to collect minis. I would have preferred them as a LL but as a hero it will be fine. I think that they look fantastic in game thankfully. I am very excited to play with them in my army.

I think the Changeling works as a Lord just because of the campaign mechanics. Blue Scribes are more fluffy characters, but I rather get to play them alongside the other Tzeentch Lords than to have them lead a whole separate faction.

I felt that Chaos Dwarfs were a little bit overpriced for what we got. With Tomb Kings we got even more content for less money. This is less content than the new Chaos DLC which was $15, yet now they're asking $25... what a joke.

People will keep paying for DLC's even while older DLC's that they payed for are not working for months due to bugs that CA makes no effort to fix. I wonder how they would perceive Slann Magics. If the Old Ones predated the Chaos Gods, and thus the shattering of Tzeentch, I think the rites and spells of the Slann would be almost incomprensible to the Blue Scribes, perhaps even to Tzeentch himself.

Nathan, I have a theory, the two legendary heroes both the free and paid one are aligned to chaos, so I think that the two legendary heroes of each of the three future dlcs will follow that path, so for nurgle as daemon Epidemius and as mortal Valnir the Reaper. For Slaanesh, The Mask as daemon and Stykaar as mortal, because I'm pretty sure Dechala will be the lord. And for Khorne Karanak the Hound of Vengeance as daemon and as mortal or Scyla Anfinngrim or Arbaal the Undefeated, because for me without no doubt, the Skulltaker will be the lord. So what do you think?

@@kidnamedfinger2625 If the price controversy actually gets noticed by the higher ups at CA, I could see more LHs being added in to justify higher price points. A LH for each race, plus a FLC chaos hero (the mortal heroes) which would likely be available for both the monogod and Warriors of Chaos factions.

Really cool lore for the Blue Scribes, spell hunters for Tzeentch. It's very Tzeentch to want to collect knowledge on every spell for every lore of magic ever created.

The reason he's sent them to collect knowledge of all magic is because all magic is derivative of Tzeentch himself. Magic became accessable to mortals thanks to them stumbling across and harnessing one of the 10,000 shards of Tzeentch when he was shattered. Hes just trying to reclaim all of his former power.

So basically, Tzeentch split himself into a thousand pieces, seeding the world with magic, that then goes on to proliferate and grow. And the Blue Scribes are a part of that process. They catalogue the new spells, and spit out chaos to create more chaos and carnage, with which new spells with be created.

I was hoping for them to be a Legendary Lord, with a full system involving them copying various spells from all sources (or even just a mechanic of them casting randomly from a pre-set list) but them being Heroes definitely fits better for them to just kinda be travelling around on their own, joining up with other factions just to be in the middle of all the spells in a big fight.

I love the blue scribes I love how they look in total war! I’m actually excited about this update and dlc even with the cost I just can’t shake my excitement I was never crazy into war hammer until I saw one of turins tournaments and bought my first warhammer game in total war warmer two! It made me fall in love with the universe and look into 40k and all the lore and now I love it all I want what’s best for the franchise to live on and I want the fans to be happy and get what they want I will be buying the dlc once I can.

So, do the Blue Scribes like it when you create new spells, or do they dislike it? I could see it being something they dislike, as the act of defining a new act of magic could mean synthesizing a new concept from pre-existing magic potential, and in so doing, you're further metaphysically dividing the essence of Tzeentch by defining it into new spells. This I imagine would be very frustrating to the Scribes, who would view it like trying to collect some substance into a container, and you breaking off pieces off of what they've collected, and tossing them back out again. Or it could be that the act of creating a spell is more like you're manifesting the untapped potential of one of Tzeentch's fragments, thus identifying that part of Tzeentch and making it viable for collection when it otherwise wouldn't be. If it works the former way, I could see the Scribes having a very resentful, adversarial relationship to spell crafters, whereas, if it's the latter, a spell crafter could probably at least in principle get by if they made some sort of deal with the Scribes, effectively working with them to manifest the lost fragments of Tzeentch, in return for having their minds treated more gently in the process.

I think that Total War has modified this lore about magic, so that it is not as chaotic. Unlike the original Fantasy version, the Total War treats magic more as "tool" rather than as "chaos."

I'm excited for the Blue Scribes, I knew they existed and was hoping they'd add them to the Game with the element of complete randomness and here we are. I love the lore of Tzeentch ingame but I felt like the faction was missing something. Having less lore's of magic at their disposal than the Elves bothered me quite a bit. I would have loved to get a random lore of magic for each Lord you recruit but with the Blue Scribes one of my biggest gripes has been alleviated a bit.

I think this is a great addition to the game. The mechanic of randomness spells can be very powerful, or very weak .. depending on your luck. And knowing the background of the Blue Scribes it will all be part of your gameplay. Personally I am also curious to see if they see play in PvP. Al people often play with only one or two spells. They now get random new spells, after every spell casted. It will probably to unpredictable for most PvP player, but I will try to make them work.

They will have a random assortment of spells from Tzeentch as well as the basic 8(?) Lores. Every time they cast a spell their spell selection will change again

I wonder if they'll have access to all spell lores or if they'll be limited to just the basic 8+Tzeentch. would be nice if their random spells could pull out literally anything (though I suppose that unless you end up getting Raise Dead, Command the Unliving, Awaken from the Grave, Drowned Dead, or Denizens of the Deep then Invocation of Nehek would be pretty useless...) personally, I feel like the best way to manage their spellcasting would be to let them cast random spells. 4-8 (perhaps 4 for standard version 8 for upcast (if applicable)) winds of magic to cast a random spell, no idea what spell it is until you've activated the ability, once you've seen what spell you're getting you can't back out, best you can do is aim it. if the randomly selected spell has no valid targets for any reason they miscast. either way, for both the actual implementation or the random spells idea, if giving them access to **all** lores of magic is too much, perhaps limit them to only drawing from lores that can be cast by spellcasters present in the same battle (Tzeentch, Metal and Fire if somehow they're the only caster in the battle (but come on, with Tzeentch you're always going to have a Wizard in the Lord slot. especially since Aekold (the one non-caster Tzeentch lord I can think of) has been implemented as a Legendary Hero (though considering his lore it'd be quite fitting if he gave access to the Lore of Life)) I find myself curious as to whether the Blue Scribes and Aekold will be Tzeentch exclusive or if the WoC (maybe just Villitch, though I suppose that from there Archaon and Be'lakor could gain them through confederation) will be able to get them too...

The basic eight + Tzeentch seems like the cleanest bet. Race specific lores like Undeath, Hashut, or Da Big Waaagh! would be too random and would probably end up useless. Random spells activated from the main eight would be enough to get the desired effect. I hope the Blue Scribes are limited to Tzeentch only, but Aekold will be available for both Tzeentch and WoC. I like some overlap, but there should also be boundaries. One hero shared and another exclusive feels better.

@@AmericanZergling honestly not many spells from other lores would be truly useless (and those that would be could just be blacklisted) Out of all 28 lores of magic currently in the game there is only 1 spell in the entire trilogy that Tzeentch simply can't benefit from under any normal circumstances. Invocation of Nehek only targets undead. There are some lore passives that only target undead, but Invocation of Nehek is the only spell in the trilogy that has such a restriction. You could still benefit from it if you had a spell that summoned undead or if you allied with an undead faction, but those are too unlikely to really consider, so... rather tragically considering how good it normally is... Invocation of Nehek is the one truly useless spell that the Blue Scribes could possibly pick if given access to every spell from the 28 current lores in the game. also... it's mentioned that they re-shuffle them every single time that a spell is cast (doesn't even specify that they must be the caster). if they just have the basic 8+Tzeentch they'll probably end up with the same ones cropping up over and over... eh, either way, there'll probably be a mod within a week or 2 so that if people feel like there's too many, there can be less, and if people feel like there's too few, then all of them can be added.

gotta love the assumption that the task is impossible inspite of the time abuse, ever heard of the one electron theory? or supertasking? evidently not. mind you tis churlish of me to have a pop at people not used to working with infinites for not spotting a positive-negative cancellation. infinite work hours plus infinite time plus the ability to revisit the same time multiple times thus the countably infinite iterations are covered by multiple visits to each second as each second only adds a finite number of new iterations. tricky sure, but not impossible. long af? absolutely certainly. scribes are fun, like interdimensional archivists. well intradimensional if you're being rick levels of reductive about what dimension means.

I personally just dislike the idea of it being connected to 40K... I feel like at the end of the day having the gods be THE SAME GODS in both universes serves to either hurt one universe or the other. and given how 40K is more popular than fantasy it will only hurt fantasy.... Also their task being impossible sucks too. because story wise it means nothing. like if them getting the shards of tzeentch could actually make tzeentch more powerful I could see some pretty cool stories being made out of that as each one would increase Tzeentchs power, if only by some small amount, making him a bigger and bigger threat. If the task is impossible why even care about the blue scribes at all? and if the shards of tzeentch are spells and not actual shards, wouldnt tzeentch literally already have all of them, being the guy who knows literally every spell already? the unit I love. But the lore implications of outright saying its the same God as it is in 40K as well as the blue scribes being literally useless in terms of what they do for tzeentch is kind of a buzzkill. like if all magic comes from tzeentch is the god empoeror just the universes best Tzeentch magic user? Or if spells in fantasy are just "the warp" then I guess the elves, gods, and everything else is basically nothing more than some screwy warp nonesense. Might as well not even call it warhammer fantasy. just call it warhammer: that one backwards planet with swords the choas gods get wrecked on.

@@TheGreatBookofGrudges Heralds are made into lords in this game so it's silly that the most important and powerful ones are just Heroes running around to "reduce enemy army speed by 30%" or whatnot. Not to mention because CA released mono-gods with a grand total of...1 LL, turning a LL candidate into a LH was a stupid move. Tzeentch needed more lords, not useless heroes. Also by your argument, the exact same can be said about Nakai, Sniktch, Gotrek, and Oxyotl, and well...there they are running around leading armies. And it works, Gotrek notwithstanding.
