The Blues-Hawks beef was super violent even before the St. Patrick’s Day Massacre

In most sports, if players physically attack each other, it’s because there is some level of beef between them. But that’s not the case in hockey. Or… I guess… boxing. Or MMA, or karate, or bullfighting, or a number of other sports, fine, but my point is: Hockey has a lot of fights that aren’t beef-based. So when hockey players do have beef, it’s only going to get even uglier. And when two entire hockey teams have beef? Well, as was the case with St. Louis and Chicago, you get a game so violent it becomes known as The St. Patrick’s Day Massacre.

I think there is a law, going back to the times of King Edward I of England, that forbade hockey in Scotland, claiming that hockey games involving Scots would involve having to use body bags each game. I can only imagine them, instead of playing an organ at the games, they used bagpipes, "Aye laddies, that would get their blood up".

Uh, well, the U.S. is much bigger than the U.K. Traveling between St. Louis and Chicago is usually a fun trip for people in both fan bases. Also, there are many smaller towns located between them However, the highway drive between STL and Chicago is possibly the most boring one in the world. It’s extremely flat, with nothing but soybean and corn fields between them, and those are sometimes punctuated by a field of cows, a random cemetery, or that one house with the Ferris wheel next to it.

Why, so the NHL can be Pussified even more to meet the supposed wishes of Novist fans? The NHL, to one degree or another has had a major U.S. network deal for at least 5 decades or more, through that time there has been multiple league expansions, multiple rule changes, multiple sponsors, and enough advertising to start it's own country, Nothing's changed, besides alienating the lifelong, hardcore fan, like me, they finally pretty much lost me 4-5 years ago with their rule changes. For the longtime fan what is the upside to giant growth in the NHL? I'm an original 6 team fan, my team will survive any league hardships. Having a team in 'Malmo, Sweden' does nothing for the NHL but fill it full of Hot air. In one way or another there will ALWAYS Be An NHL..... ....I prefer the one with less teams, and more NHL Talent.

I'm from down state, living in the St. Louis area. Pro sports loyalties are all St. Louis. They are the home team around here regardless of the side of the boarder you live on. Now major college sports are different. Loyalties are split right down the middle of the river. MIZZOU on the west side and ILLINI on the east side. The Braggin' Rights game makes St. Louis a divided city. I'm a Blues fan since childhood and love the team more than any other. Also love the Cardinals, CITY, Battlehawks, Rams and Football Cardinals when they were here. At the Illinois - Missouri game though I'm damn sure wearing Orange and Blue. This is actually very normal around here. I'd like to think I'm unique, but not on this one. Cheering for the Cards, Blues, and Illini is norm in the Metro East and surrounding Illinois country side.

Everyone loves to glorify how amazing of a play Jeter made (which it was) but no one seems to talk about how incredibly stupid Giambi was to not slide on that play. I guess he wanted an excuse to join the Yankees.

In the spirit of hockey beef, I'd love to see one on the battle of Alberta. As an Oilers fan, some of the most heated moments have happened against our rivals down in Calgary. It was exacerbated with them meeting in the playoffs this year too

Ahhh yes, I remember those days. It wasn’t just the players who hated each other, either; the fans could be every bit as bad. There was still plenty of bad blood between us in the ’94-’95 season when I was fresh out of high school, and I *still* hate that I had to stand up for a Chicago fan when I was a cashier in St. Louis. He was wearing a ’Hawks jersey and asked if we sold the Chicago Tribune, and a guy in a Blues jersey a couple of guys back said, “If you wanna read the Chicago Tribune, go back to f---in’ Chicago!” It took two cashiers and both managers on duty to calm things down enough that we didn’t have a riot in the front of the store. Good times.

As a person who lives nowhere near STL. I always wondered what they think about the Rams. This weird loaner of a team that showed up from the west coast, won a surprise superbowl had some good years got bad and then went home. Did people stick Rams fans? Did they hop to KC, INDY or Chicago? How did they react to the LA/NE superbowl?

@@mikemiken1963 Stan Kroenke slandering the entire city of St. Louis for, "not being a sports city" despite placing below mediocrity Rams team on the field for 12 consecutive seasons has created much deserved animosity towards the Rams. Many St. Louisians are now chiefs fans, and wish failure upon them. I believe ,"Stan Kroenke vs. the city of St. Louis" would make a fantastic Beef Video.

@@mikemiken1963 I loved the Rams they were my whole childhood. STL is a great sports town Stan K. Just wanted to move us the second he took over so he put zero effort into improving the franchise. I tried to move on to be a Titans fan but it just wasn’t the same. I hope we get another NFL team one day, we really deserve one. And I cheer against the LA Rams no matter what. I’ll probably never get over them moving honestly.
