That really is my kind of chess ! Two well-constructed attacks on Queen and King side, but one of the two players manoeuvers with more precision and grabs the win, braving some danger in the process. Exciting game, loved it !

Hello Agadmator. I just wanted you to know that your videos really helped me improve my chess. I'm a new player (I've started playing in January), so I don't really know a lot of theory, but with your videos, I learned quite a few reflexes and good moves to play. I try to play everyday on Chess.com, because playing is the best way to improve myself. Again, thanks a lot for the videos, keep it going. It really helps :)

@10:57 how about Rc4 instead of going backwards with Ra1? After Rc4 and Qd8(?), then continue with Nd2/Bf3/Bxh5 plan? Or does the Rc4 Qd8 move make the attack too slow already? What do you guys think? Or what does the engine "think"(say)? Heh ;P~

10:53 -- That is one unhappy bishop: he wants to play, but he was put in jail by his owner! ...I wonder if it dawned on FVP at this point just how far ahead Black was; Anand's rooks and queen are poised to come screaming down the queenside, and all of his pieces are jammed into a knot in the corner. Even though the material is equal, the White position is almost resignable right here given that you're either going to lose either the b2 or the d3 pawn within the next few moves, then probably the other as well, and then have to deal with passed pawns breathing down your neck. 12:45 -- Anand missed the best continuation after Rg2-pinning-his-queen: Rh8, and then both queens have a rook to their heads! ...Rxg5+, Nxg5, (White queen moves), Rxh3+, and White can just resign.

We may say that Valeejo attacked too slow but actually it was Anand that played a great defense.. This kind of attacks usually work when White sacrifices a rook and eventually bring the rook on A1 into the attack.. When I saw Rook on h4, I knew that the siege shall fail

Hi Antonio, in the next game where this early position arises, I’d appreciate if you could discuss the relative merits and rationale of black Bxf3 vs Bh5. If the black player is satisfied at giving up the light bishop and bishop pair so early, why not leave it on the board while complicating white’s development and perhaps making white pay more than a Knight for it? Any viewers with vast knowledge are welcomed to reply.

This is a great example for showing how sometimes 2 pieces are better then a Queen. I’ll take 2 rooks for a queen and a room and Bishop for a queen also. Sometimes even 2 bishops are better. Only 2 pieces I won’t trade for are a bishop and knight for a queen.

What if Francesco played.. Knight to h2 and then rook from a4 to c4 to attack the queen to trade rooks.. knight from h2 to g4 to attack the e5 pawn an then bring the king to g1.. To be be able to go rook f1 to f4 to double attack the e5 pawn with ideas of queen from h4 to g3 to trade queens.. Or bishop to f1 to protect the king on g1... ... Fran lost when he moved his king after castling because it put him a move behind.. Thats why anand kept pushing his pieces on the queen side..
