I watched it live. The camera work was terrible so we had to guess sometimes, what was going on. It was a battle royale and took nerves of steel to play, Vincent was very clever, how he lured the New Black Queen into his trap set by his New White Queen while the other White Queen guarded the pawn next to the black king.

Really incredibly impressive win by Vincent Keymer. He had a brutal initiation into top level chess, and plenty talents have been destroyed this way, I really was worried about him, even though I also was impressed by his play. Lesser talents than him would have cracked, but today he showed that while he is obviously not yet among the absolute very best, he is definitely is an absolute top talent. Breaking Meier's very tough resistance was impressive. If anything, these first four rounds will have been incredibly instructive for him, now that it is clear it has not broken his spirit, if even only temporarily. I also very much like his demeanor, very confident and manly, looking good.

An excellent game! I had seen chess24's coverage of this game and think they are correct in saying that even after the bishop exchange the position is still drawn. The key move missed by Meier is instead of Kxg2, first moving c4 threatening promotion. If c4 is taken then the stalemate later on is forced as well. At least it appears to be, I could be wrong. Thanks for the content on this interesting game and congratulations to both these excellent players!

Vincent is cool, and has a bright future!!! So glad to see such talents!!! :) But one thing I have noticed on move 51, it could have actually been a draw, or am I mistaking ? Instead of pawn g2, he could have wasted a move and play c4. Then Vincent would have to capture and Meier could go for the queen with the king in the correct place. But maybe I am wrong, they are the GM's after all :)
