My husband bought a puppy off a neighbor because they were allowing a grandchild to spin him around by his back legs (not in circles but in a head-over-heels type spin). Within hours the pup was down with parvo. I nursed him back to health using subq fluids and baby food meat once he showed interest in food again. It took weeks of poking that poor pup with a needle, cleaning vomit, prayers, encouragement and a LOT of tears before he started to turn the corner and show signs of coming through it. He just recently passed days before Christmas after a freak accident of him drinking spoiled milk. By the time I saw something was wrong, it was too late and all I could do was hold him, apologize and sob. I miss you every day Chico. You were the best. 💙💚

Controlling the wild boar would be a lot easier if they increased the numbers of predators in the area. Cougars in certain parts of Florida prey almost exclusively on wild boar, so they should reintroduce cougar if it's part of their historic range. Or bring in wolves. Otherwise, the boar have to be culled.

Sterilizing a single wild boar does not seem to be the best way to keep the wild boar population from growing exponentially. Am I missing something here?
@shihalya2 жыл бұрын
I think they choose him because he travels a lot more than others in the study, so more females are probably „visited“ by him and they said he comes to close to farmland, so they keep a closer look on him definitely…. And I doubt they only do a single sterilization, they probably just showed one, I mean catching and „treatment“ take time and there are only so many vets that can be send out, there are probably other ways they keep the population down (hunting season, natural predators, contraception and neutering, trapping and rehoming are the likely methods)

Is there an effort to change the laws about accessing a trailer with animals in international transport? This video I think could help convince legislators. The unintended consequences of such laws are just cruel.

How ridiculous is that Canadian law about not breaking the seals. -Even if there’s a medical emergency on board. I understand them not wanting the caribou to get out & be loose before they’ve arrived at their destination, but that seems so counterproductive. If the seals show my evidence of tampering, the whole deal's off… Turn around & take them all back. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. smh

They worry also about invasive species being brought in (smuggled). They went from Canada to the United States (Alaska). Border seals and ensures that is the cargo (wildlife in question-approved) and it isn't opened until it reaches destination to ensure nothing else has hitched a ride out\in and also for smuggling reasons. It's actually for the safety of million's of other species (think 1dead caribou or wiping out an entire specie in the food chain). They do these things for a reason, to protect native flora and fauna while importing\exporting ANYTHING but including wildlife. Your foods are sometimes even done this way when brought into the country (think exotic fruits veggies etc)
