@r.mcbride28375 жыл бұрын
@@Akai-Shade Actually, it's not just "dye" it's an anti-parasite type of drug that is highly toxic to humans if consumed or even handled briefly. It doesn't show up on the outside of the horn, so poachers can't tell just by looking if a horn has been treated. The drug can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nervous system problems that could become permanent and even cancer, with repeated exposure. All things that poachers, imho, richly deserve.

It's too bad. That's not the experience of most kids in America. Some neighborhoods of some big cities. Star Winchester in my community we have a serious deer problem. Because we have a bunch of ignorant people who moved to my community. Who don’t seem to understand the issues of letting deer populations go out of control. It’s GOOD to cull the heard to prevent starvation due to over population, diseases that spread among populations of deer. If you don’t understand certain things it’s best no to have such a strong opinion. Also because my community is tourist town we have people feeding the deer pizza, feeding the deer anything they have, stoping in the middle of the road to take pictures. Which in turns makes the deer dependent on humans and causes them to start venturing into neighborhoods and they’ll destroy people’s gardens. Deer proof Fences are super spendy. It makes me mad that my garden keeps getting ruined because some idiot thinks it’s cute or funny to feed wild deer pizza. And all my time and energy has passed been wasted. It also makes it a higher risk of deer causing car accidents. Because they are searching out humans they venture into the roadways. I honestly feel they should euthanize deer that become too dependent on humans and actually punish people for feeding them. Then we can cook up the deer meat and feed homeless.

More importantly, while out on a "photo safari " we came across a lioness with a couple of older cubs. Mom's radio collar slipped up into her mouth, so she was unable to successfully hunt. Our guide, Daniel, called it in and we waited until they were able to fly in a Vet. Lion was darted and the radio collar was removed. It took a few hours, but Daniel followed her until the Vet got there. Both mom and cubs were ok.

Kenya has many amazing programs for helping both wildlife and the people, it is truly inspiring. Farmers are making extra money breeding butterflies for living displays in Europe and North America. There are former poachers who have become guides for tourism, and scholarship programs that allow children to get a full education. The more those who live there learn to value their wildlife for its own sake, and it’s value through working with it and conserving it the greater the chances are for the future. It is wonderful to see Chris in his element, applying his love and skills for all animals wherever he goes.🖤🇨🇦

The people buying these black market items are the Chinese. But it's hard to motivate them to enforce the conservation measures. So long as the Chinese are willing to buy them, people will continue to poach. Trying to stop the poaching is never going to work. We need to stop the buying.
@ihangoutwithdeadguys3 жыл бұрын
I read an article somewhere that along with these conservation and anti poacher efforts being made, scientists are also creating artificial horns that have the same genetic makeup as the real horns, as well as essentially being exact replicas to hopefully oversaturate the market and drop the price of them
@tasteslikesailor3 жыл бұрын
@@ihangoutwithdeadguys i hope that does become a thing, bc the lower the price is, the less incentive poachers have to take to that task. what draws them in is the insane money. unfortunately, oversaturation of the market in one specific area isn't enough. other animals are also poached, they just don't receive the same focus bc they aren't as endangered as other species. so rhinos, and maybe also elephants, could be saved this way. but eventually, we'd start seeing the effects of poachers averting their attention toward other profitable species.
