Bros, thank you and the team for sharing your creation with us. The next paragraph is what I thought about the boat. Would you please confirm whether or not you both were thinking the same thing, and whether or not I missed anything? I think that the title reflects the symbolism of the tool that was used to carry the people off to treatment. It's bitter sweet, in the sense, that when you build it, you accomplish something good, which last a long time and bring opportunity, and yet they have to burn the boat after.

I like the inclusion of a game that helps you detect if someone is leporous. Did the father release his boat as a huge wish? That is beautiful. It's sad he didn't return for her after the end of the film, but I'm glad they had a moment to connect before he sent her to the leprosy place.
@jakemorgancomposer15 күн бұрын
Yes exactly! Great observation. The burning Boat at the end ties many of the films themes together. It's the father's wish for his daughter to get better - but also to insure he can't return for her even though he knows he will desperately want to. It's also a common funeral practice in nepal and he may have believed the boat was contaminated with 'the curse' (what he believed it to be). Thanks so much for taking the time to watch this and your insights + thoughts!

This was great! The only aspect of the story I didn't like is the father apparently unilaterally made the decision to take her to the leprosy mission, without giving the mother or sisters a chance to say goodbye.
@eugenetswong11 күн бұрын
We don't know that about the mother. Even the father didn't get chance, technically speaking. I don't like the choice that he made, but I like the way that the story is told.
@paulwright837816 күн бұрын
Wait did she catch leprosy on that boat
@YT4Me5716 күн бұрын
No. He had to burn the boat so as not to expose anyone to leprosy since she had ridden in the boat. Among people without access to care, this has always been a common practice. Lepers are isolated and everything they own is discarded or burned.
@YT4Me5716 күн бұрын
No, she already had it. Her father recognized the early stages when she didn't respond to the fires heat or pain of the lit match.
@paulwright837816 күн бұрын

there is a cure for leprosy and capitalism.
@tpat9016 күн бұрын
Yes there is a cure for the disease, but this cure isn't cheap. The study I read about it claimed it would cost a resident about 40% of it's income to afford a cure. Without help those people can't afford the cure, as long as there isn't a system allowing for cheaper access. So for them this disease is still a curse and an infectious one. So don't point fingers on people who are afraid to die or at least be a burden to their loved ones.
