Thanks for a great podcast! I'm also a continental knitter, and when doing three stranded colourwork, I like to have to of the colors on the same finger the way I do two stranded colourwork, and then I throw the third. It's a bit fiddly to throw, but I find it easiest both to keep all the yarns untangled, and to keep the tension correct.
@bobblesandberries2 ай бұрын
That makes a lot of sense! Three stranded colourwork is a bit fiddly regardless of how we do it, I think. But it makes very pretty knits. ❤️

YEEES Aude, we will have piles of knit socks together! This month i have t-6 days to knit a whole sock because of my holidays and a test knit, but your mention has given me the push i needed!! Also for your heel flap, do you swap to DPN’s or do you do the heel on magic loop? I use DPNs for my heel flap and turn and then go back to 9inch circulars!
@bobblesandberries2 ай бұрын
Yay! You can do it!! I used a needle with a longer cable but with just the two needles tips so I guess it’s like DPNs? Maybe I should use actual DPNs. I might hold them slightly different and it might improve my tension… 🤔

I think I know what’s going on with the heel of your sock the heel turn. When you tention your yarn at the beginning your tention at the beginning of the row, and then when you get to the middle of the row, your tention has loosened up so retention in the middle of the row just like you do at the beginning of the row, get back normal tension and then continue the row also your pearls look tighter than your knits so practice tensioning that’s my tip for you and practice different styles of knitting different positions you’re holding your needles try it. You might surprise yourself and learn to knit differently. I sure have.❤

Ok finishing up the podcast finally, but coming back to say thanks for the book recommendations, they're different to what I usually read but I'll give those a go I think! I'm currently reading some Colleen Hoover to see what all the fuss is about. I'm usually more fantasy romance or historical. But they're fun. Currently knitting the last rows of my Solaris Shawl and I'll be sooooo happy to be done! :)

Bonjour Brigitte! Merci pour votre gentil commentaire. :) Oui, en effet, je pense qu’Edimbourg est un peu trop grande ville pour trouver ce genre de tricots en boutiques de seconde main… Malheureusement. Hmmm... I have never seen that in my heel turns. However, while I was usually happy with my heel turns, they have greatly improved since I have started using double pointed needles for the heel flap and turn. For the rest I use magic loop, so the dpns only come out for the heel flap and turn, but I do find that these two parts of my socks look a lot better since I've started using dpns for those bits. re/ your "messy" heel: I couldn't recognize properly what kind of heel(flap) you are making. It looks like a triangular shape. My heel flap is not triangular, it's straight. Mine is not messy. Oh, and I knit my socks on DPNs, maybe this does play a role, too.
