I really appreciate that you kind of did the opposite of most podcasters for this type of video. I love that you spoke most about the yarn and what pattern you will pair it with rather than the other way. So many people are focused on knitting patterns (which I understand!) and then finding a yarn for it. Your way of “here’s a beautiful yarn that works for this pattern” is very refreshing! 🎉

Aw thank you so much! I am usually drawn to beautiful yarn first, that is true. Finding the pattern to match comes after.

Having a flexible mind, open to change, is what makes us creative. Plans should only be ideas that we allow to bloom in the most interesting direction. Thank you for your podcast. You have been a lovely companion for my morning knitting.

I think your approach to planning for the year ahead totally makes sense for you, and allows for lots of flexibility and creativity. I'm looking forward to seeing what all you make in 2024. The leftover-yarn hot water bottle cover promises to be super cute, whichever color combo you choose.

This is quite inspiring, thanks ! For your hot water bottle cover, I like the option with the purple yarn better, just because it seems to be more contrrasty. It is always a good idea to take a black and white picture, so you can see if you have enough contrast. Yes, I would love some more seasonal inspiration.

I like the purple colour combination best. If you take a picture of the two combinations and switch it to black and white it usually helps to see if you have amount of contrast that you like.

Great video. For your fair isle hot water bottle cozy I like option 2 - with the higher contrast purple. Colour work is my favourite type of knitting and I think this relatively high contrast option for a home accessory would be a lot of fun to knit.

I enjoyed this look at your possible knitting plans. I think it’s good to have plans but, like you, to keep them flexible so that you knit what you feel like knitting. I like the purple option for the hot water bottle as I like those 3 colours together. I think a quarterly roundup of plans would be interesting.

As always, I love your videos. I love that you are experimenting with non-nylon non-super wash yarn for socks. I would like to do the same. Having said that, I would be very careful about the yarn that it is mohair and Wensleydale. The fleece of both of these fibers has very little crimp, and therefore will have lots of drape, but very little spring back. You might find that your socks are just droopy and do not hug your feet. I would definitely swatch before starting socks. Love your content and look forward to your next video.

That's great to know! Thank you! ❤️ I didn't think about that at all. A ribbed socks of some sort might be best suited for this yarn then... 🤔 Definitely something to think about. Thanks again! ❤️

Your plans are great. I loved using Peruvian yarn. It is so nice, and it is wearing very well. I do not use hot water bottle, more because I never needed but I have a very knitworthy friend that uses that so I may make one for her. Always great to have breakfast "with you" ❤

I'm new to your podcasts but will be following you. I'll be very interested to follow your sock yarn experiment. I also wish to get away from superwash and nylon. My first exploration will be BFL and something though I am having some trouble .finding this in the US. I very much appreciate your showcasing alternative yarns and hope they wear well. BTW, I love the purple hot water bottle combination.

Welcome! Yeah, non-sw no-nylon sock yarn isn’t the easiest to find. But I feel like knitters are becoming increasingly interested in it so hopefully that’ll lead to more yarn blends being created.

I wouldn’t use mostly white in the hot water bottle knit, because I think it will show wear more than the dusty colors. 🤷🏼‍♀️. Any of the colors you have are nice, mix it up for a colorful result!!

I just found you on here and am so thankful that YT suggested you, I ran over to instagram to follow you but it turns out I already do but instagram never shows you on my feed. Instagram is weird the way it only shows the same handful of people I follow. Anyway, I loved this episode and everything you're planning on doing this year! Your yarn choices are so lovely I can't wait to see them grow up and shine in your future projects. For the hot water bottle I personally like the purple colors paired together. I'm team hot water bottle myself so I think once you start using it you will love it. My kids all would make fun of me until I had them use one and they loved it and all asked for one for Christmas. I'm interested in making non-superwash socks as well. I've heard you need to make the foot a bit longer so it leaves room for felting. Have you found this to be true? Maybe I should look through your past videos to hear your older podcasts about socks. This year I want to focus on making more sweaters and also leaving more room to get to my other crafts I enjoy like sewing so I can pair my sweaters with hand sewn dresses and skirts. So I would like to be more intentional when casting on sweaters and think how I can wear it and with what. I'm currently making the Desert Spring top by Jessica Mdonald with a cormo wool and silk blend. It's fingering weight so it's a slow knit but I'm motivated to try to get it done for my 40th birthday which is In Feb like you. Mine is the 18th of Feb so I need to get cracking! Also I love that throw you made, the colors are gorgeous! I'm tempted to start one myself but I also know those kind of starts are so fiddly but the thought of it eating through my scraps is tempting so I might just think on it for a bit before I commit. I look forward to watching more and getting to know you more with your channel. Thank you and happy knitting -Jenn

Hi Jenn! And welcome! I know what you mean... The Instagram algorithm only shows us a handful of the people we choose to follow. It's really annoying. I personally haven't felt the need to make my non-sw socks longer BUT I don't really wear them in boots or shoes that would make them felt a lot. I wear them mostly in my slippers at home (that goes for all my handknit socks, sw and non-sw) so they don't really felt that much. Your intentions for the new year sounds wonderful! I also enjoy sewing very much and it's lovely to be able to make and pair your clothes in exactly the way you want. My sewing mojo tends to be quite low in the winter though but it'll be back in the Spring and Summer. :) Good luck with the Desert Spring top! You can do it! Happy knitting! ❤️

Hi Aude, Just watching your episode and just wanted to say that the Field cardigan maybe a bit tricky with yarn held double. I have made 4 field sweaters and the thought of knitting all of those grain stitches with double yarn 😮 …sometimes you have to knit five stitches together. I’m sure you could do it, but it will be tough on your hands Von in Aus ❤
