Bessel thankfully thoroughly, emphatically & realistically, understands & discusses important traumatic matters such rape & molestation & abuse; which can cause CPTSD - & details how well one type of therapy may work for one trauma but perhaps not another & how some require a few types… his comprehension, honesty & recognition of what ‘said things’ can do are uplifting & inspiring to say the least.. see, he didn’t only write this book for therapists, he wrote it for those who’ve endured trauma!

I love EMDR. It's the first time therapy has started to feel like real healing, and not just venting, ruminating, and struggling to change. EMDR feels like I'm going to the gym for workout sessions with a coach.

The author very clear that yoga isn't special or magic. Any movement that causes a person to be grounded in their body and aware of their body helps, rather that's yoga, tia chi, tango dancing, or anything else.

To heal trauma requires getting out of the traumatic situation and trust the therapist. It doesn’t fucking work when simply being in a horrid world is traumatic and therapists themselves lie, does it?

Hard to listen to in this monotone voice. The visuals were awesome.
@danimotherofchickens4796 ай бұрын
None of this deals with the root of it, which makes it a bandaid. You have to involve the one who can actually heal it. Ephesians 6:12 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Too bad we wrote this summary 4 years ago: fourminutebooks.com/the-body-keeps-the-score-summary/ By the way, if we were trying to sell the book, we probably should have included a link for you to buy it, which we didn't even do. Why does every trauma presentation on KZbin feature a male expert? And now a male cartoon expert? Take a look at the field. The field is nearly all women. WTF? And yes, I do understand KVdK is male. Duh. Not making that point. 20 years ago he was not so sexy and everyone thought this stuff was crazy. Now men are selling his ideas on KZbin. Not sure that means any patient/clients benefit, though.
