Reg Park was that dude for real. Strong as hell too. In my opinion hes got the type of body a true man would want. Hes not a pretty boy hes just old school rugged and rough. He wasnt just into big arms and shit like we see nowadays he stuck to the basics and worked on big power moves.. he knew that the arms were secondary. Definitely one of my favorites of all time. His whole philosophy on lifting weights was amazing IMO. He was huge.. but realistic and actually physically fit

He was allegedly the first bodybuilder to bench press 500lbs too, and as far as I know came up with 5x5 and coached Arnold to do 500lb calf raises every day too bring them up. He also claimed he was a lifetime natural, which if you look at his physique over the span of his career, is totally believable.

They also rely on angles/lighting and photoship nowadays. Thats one reason a guy looking like he makes arnold small on instagram would look like a muscular ripped dude in real life. Instagram and social media in general has made people have a false sense of reality which is why they try to cope by distorting their physiques and getting perfect shots.

All this information provided here was yet another inspirational message for me to return to the world of fitness. It’s been sometime since I’ve last worked out consistently; maybe 2 years. I have been able to maintain my overall physical fitness pretty decently with the work that I do as a warehouse man. It’s very cool to see how one inspiration can then carry on to multiple people to achieve their goals in fitness and also to maintain them of course. I like videos like this one which inspire people and maybe also provide a positive reaction in those people who are inspired. Kudos on this presentation. I loved it.

Nick, much thanks for this video. Reg Park was truly the greatest natural bodybuilder ever; he was also extremely strong. He was the 1st bodybuilder to bench press 500lbs. At the 1970 mr.universe he lost to Arnold who was admittedly on steroids and 20 years younger than Reg by just 1/2 point. Most importantly Reg Park set the perfect example for all of us natural bodybuilders of what is truly possible. Reg stood 6'1" at competition weight of 220lbs. Thanks again Nick!

Don't kid yourself man,Reg was definitely on some gear,Larry Scott Dave Draper,Bill Pearl,Sergio Olivia etc... they all juiced back in the day. I'm 53 and natural, took me forever to get to 227 at 5'11". They didn't take a fraction of what these mutants take today though... definitely not hating just stating the truth.

One of his pieces of advice, was to remain at about 80% of your peak condition. As well as the clear health benefits, he was always " on call" to do guest appearances. Just a tech point...melanoma (the cancer he died from) is not the skin cancer that some develop with excessive sun bathing. Many get it without ever sunbathing. He loved the sun, which is why I mentioned the point. The two things are not necessarily linked.

Great work. I’m a middle aged guy who still lifts.... my inspiration for lifting was due to Arnold, Franco, Zane, Mentzer and Samir Bannout. I think Lee Haney was the last of the ‘classic era’ bodybuilders with a very narrow waist and broad shoulders without the ninja-turtle belly - essentially ( with a couple of exceptions...) the last of the somewhat human-looking Mr. Olympia’s. Having a great physique with big muscles, aesthetics, symmetry - and to be functional - is where it’s at. What I see out there now.... just looks way too risky - in terms of ones health and longevity - to want to aspire to for younger lifters. But hey, call it sour grapes or ‘being salty’ after being in my prime.... I’m just a 50-something guy who likes to lift.... but I can see how what the sport has become tends to turn off 90% of the public these days. To your health. 💪🏼🙏🏻✌🏻

Make a video about if CP bodybuilders still go through the health complications that some bigger pro bodybuilders go through during/after their career or if its significantly the healthier route. We hear a lot about the bigger guys with heart attacks, kidney disease, etc. but not so much with the smaller guys. Just curious if that was a case of it not being publicly released or if it simply doesn’t happen as much. Love your videos btw! Thanks for what you do!!
