I have one sister and I get on well with her but not always, because we have different lifestyles. We disagree in some things. I might get on better with people which I have more things in common with. Many thanks to you both for your great lessons on any subject!

'March to your own drum' is new to me, which is true of my family members.😅 Thank you for your outstanding lesson, Neil and Georgie❗☺️

Jeremy had one sibling and his name was Geoff. Jeremy didn't get on well with Geoff. For one, Geoff was very bossy. Geoff also liked to march to his own drum, so he decided to become a Sith, rather than to become a Jedi, which is what Jeremy wanted to do. The Sith completely spoiled Geoff so he could fully embrace the power of the dark side. When the Jedi thought Geoff was out of control and needed to be stopped, they sent Jeremy to confront him. However, that put Jeremy on the spot, because he didn't want to fight his own brother.

I agree with the stereotype of the sibling. The oldest one is bossy and the youngest is spoiled

Hi there, BBC. I would really be grateful and thankful for you if you helped us to improve our speaking skill and gain fluency easily by either talking with some members or even make a group that help us to get our goals.

Just a note for myself ;)) * Please ignore if you're bothered* The phrase "Why does that even get bandied around?" means asking why a particular idea, rumor, or statement is being discussed or spread, especially if it seems unnecessary or unfounded. In Vietnamese, it could be translated as: "Tại sao điều đó lại được lan truyền?" or "Tại sao người ta lại bàn tán về điều đó?" This question is often used when someone doubts the importance or truth of what's being discussed. The phrase "Is there any substance to that?" means asking whether there is any truth, validity, or real basis behind something that has been said, claimed, or suggested. In Vietnamese, it could be translated as: "Có căn cứ nào cho điều đó không?" or "Điều đó có thật không?" It’s used when someone is questioning if a statement or rumor is genuine or supported by facts.

As the eldest sister in the family, I like to spoil my younger siblings. By the way, is the expression: get on with the same as get along with someone? Thank you for this wonderful podcast!

3:58 what does get bandied around mean? And is there any way to help us with the fast speech? 2:29 here i know all of those words but if it's not for the captions i couldn't understand because she speaks very fast and the only thing my ear listens to is hdhdjdjsjd, it's just impossible
@bbclearningenglishКүн бұрын
It's quite a high-level phrase - it basically means: mention something often, without thinking about it it carefully. Why not check out our videos on fast speech to help: kzbin.info/aero/PLcetZ6gSk969lF_SaHQilmjFuQoU_VTQV
