Yes! That's the way that I was first taught to Mud, back in the early '70s. I've never used a frame with the half round cheeze-whizzer either, just with the flat files they're difficult to hold otherwise. Like you show, we've always used a board to support the 40 - 60 grit. The Crepe Rubber squares that they sell at the wood workers stores to unclog sandpaper works great to unclog the Mud from the paper. You got yourself a new Subscriber!! Thanks for the Bondo tips, I liked the one with adding the fiberglass resin to the Bondo!!

Hey man, it's great that you're teaching the young generation the right way of using body filler. This video brought me back to the 70s when they used to call me the bondoman. You're doing it exactly the way we did it back then. The only difference I see is that we used to move the chess grader, or the sanding block, in a cross motion to leave the surface completely level, it's very important if you're doing a whole door or half a hood.

The filler is your problem. Try gold. Sand it with a file with 36 to shape right before it gets fully hard, just as soon as it doesn't gum the paper. The durablock you had was the best. You were just using it wrong. You have to keep switching directions. Also, you won't have to press hard if you use gold. You will kick yourself if you ever try it. Last fact, a cheese grater is for someone that didn't do their metal work. A hammer and dolly shapes and saves money on materials and produces a better quality job.

Yeah ive noticed sandpaper is not what it used to be. Its much thinner and wears out much faster. Also falls apart. And you pay double for less quality.

Why doesn't your channel have a "Thanks$$" botton where people can leave a $$ gift to say thanks for the education they get from your videos?? Other channels i watch do. I often leave $2 per video to the channel provider to aid in future production of videos.

Mixing body filler and hardener has so many variables it doesn't work that way.....That's a good video idea. Merry Christmas

@@guzzifabrication3448 seen enough fabrications . I appreciate the insight but I look for tricks of the trade . It looks like the bondo and hardener were your professional mix . You put so much emphasis on timing to get it right .
