They don’t use a net to catch planes landing on a carrier. It’s a tail hook system. They may have a net as a safety but it absolutely isn’t used the way they’re saying.

With his rank and years of service, he's making $12k-$13k a month, minimum. He wouldn't be able to afford a WW2 era P-51 Mustang now, but I'd imagine 25-30 years ago you could pick up one of the less sought after versions for a reasonable price. They were still using them at the start of the Korean War. Keeping it airworthy would cost a small fortune though.

Stealth is more dynamic than Maverick. In Stealth, Jessica Biel gets shot down over North Korea, finds her emergency armament kit, and gets to safety. An objectively shittier movie in 2005 did a better job with pilot protocol than a blockbuster hit in 2022.
