Well, as a parent of 3, there's 2 ways to look at this: 1) he never did a pets worth of work for his own daughter, OR 2) having a daughter and a traveling career, ADDING another responsibility of that nature is just too much MORE work. For me, I'm like yo, these kids need some pets but also, holy hell it's gonna be basically another kid that needs training in a different way. Cats, hamsters, ok... But a dog is a ton more work on top of kids.
