I feel that. My workplace was meant to be the same because they paid their workers really well. Good luck with the future kickstarter! I think bigger booktubers shouting out super small creators is so important and I wish more did. I deleted my channel a few years ago because after a year I only had 170 subscribers and it just felt like I was talking to no one. FOMO absolutely kills my reading and puts me right in a slump. I've figured out I'm more of a "series binger" than someone that reads loads of different things at once. But this means I'll spend 2-3 months only reading one series so I'm not "taking part" in the rest of the community because I'm not reading what everyone else is.
@cronkthebookguy8 ай бұрын
To be honest, I thought that was how my channel was going to go. That's a tough experience and its so common. 💔 You're absolutely correct about FOMO. It's that desire to participate in the wider community and fan based, instead of just one. (Every time I go to a comic con, I see all these anime fandoms and wish I were more of an anime enthusiast). That urge to belong can be tricky to manage.

I'm so happy for you and curious to see what you've written. Take your time for the things that you feel are most important. I feel that is also the best remedy for burnout recovery. I feel by any standards the quality and elaborateness of your videos was hardly sustainable, also simply because the number of series will run out at some point 😉 So take it easy. You've really made it impossible to miss that you are a brilliant book series reviewer and a beautiful person. So I'm gonna assume people will gladly consume a reduced number of video's if this will help you attain your goals, and still really enjoy your contents.
@cronkthebookguy8 ай бұрын
Thank you, my friend. It's curious. I thought I would run out of series at some point too! But I have literally hundreds of books on my 'completed' list ready to review, and about 50 new authors on my list to start reading. There's just so much out there! It's exciting and awful at the same time. 😁 The difficulty for me is not just taking it easy when I'm stressed, but also taking it easy when I'm excited! My passion can trick me sometimes into overextending.

Nice! Wish you the very best. Those video ideas you said are brilliant. I also feel like that, you've recommended so many good series that I'd like to read but I can only go so fast. Topics like reading habits can go really far to break down barriers to entry. Also, if I may give a little suggestion, by all means slow down on video output if you need. But maybe you could do some videos with top 10 lists or tier lists. I think they're easier to produce, they drive a lot of engagement (I don't know why but having things neatly ordered into lists and the lure of seeing what's number 1 or where your favorite series is is enticing). Also, it would be a way to have your personal opinion on your favorite books.
@cronkthebookguy8 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I'll include reading habits in this theme, don't worry. :) As for top 10 lists...I enjoy watching them but I'm not sure if they're my thing. I don't like the philosophy of putting books in competition with each other. Even if it's just my personal opinion. I prefer being objective with books and letting people make their own choices. Still, I'll keep it in mind.

Thank you so much for sharing about burnout. That happened to me a few years ago too, to the point where I had to step down from a management position.
