Yes, a video on those 17 books, and a little life story about your travels! I know you've been traveling a hard path lately, but it always brightens my day when a video of yours pops up on youtube!! j

A "book hoard" to one might just be a personal library to someone else. I am the proud owner of many books. Feel free to judge me while I sit in my cozy corner and read.

Good for you, I agree completely.

I love having books around in every room. My own personal library that includes everything from classic books that I love and return to often, to stacks of hardcover books often bought for 50 cents or a dollar at used books sales that allow me to grab a great book at any time as I leave the house on a wide variety of subjects both non fiction and fiction. Steve you once visited a fellow book tuber on camera and looking at a wall with a TV on it said something along the lines of "if this tv shrine wasn't here you could have a room for another book case" lol and that is my thought about collecting books. I keep looking round my apartment thinking, can another stack of great, well written books fit here? I have been in record collectors houses where rooms are filled with walls of record cases and they too face the same hoarding charges. I think it was the writer May Sarton who when asked if she ever felt lonely living by herself in the cold northeast, pointed to her many book cases and said "how can I ever be lonely when I am surrounded by my friends. "

The Traveling Seventeen Books sound like the basis of an awesome video Steve. How and why you chose them. How often you read them. Were there any great conversations sparked by them as you traveled. Etc., etc., etc. Anyway, enjoyed the tag video (as always). Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and an amazing week. ~ Tim.

OK. I need to know what those seventeen books were. I've heard the story about them bunch of times. I think it's high time for us to be introduced properly. Maybe you could do a video about them?

I'm trying to be very mindful about my book purchases lately. My shelves of unread books is starting to torment me. Great tag. I'll check the channel. I want a Steve video on how to read faster and better! Need your speed if I ever want to read all the books on my Goodreads tbr shelf.

The 17 foot locker books could easily be your one hour video. It sounds like you have some good questions in mind, maybe you should create a book hoarding 2.0 tag.

Well it works! I have zero need to borrow any book, and a nice clean policy against lending has saved me lots of aggravation over the decades!

I'm so curious! I adore your idea of having a second bottom to a foot locker (i assume similar to a trunk or treasure chest as i call it) & that they've had lengthy travels with you... so I must ask... what are those 17 books? & I'm the same way in that I cancel reading to allow for plans. Grudgingly, but surely. Thanks for sharing this tag!! I love the questions that you would add. Interesting.

The more I view booktube videos the more I am coming to the conclusion that books for a lot of the people on booktube are a fetish. I consider myself an avid reader. But, my relationship to books revolves around the stories being told, not the physical book itself. Three and a half years ago I bought a Kindle. Three months ago I moved to a smaller apartment. Since I had access to many of my physical books in an electronic format, I dispersed over half my book collection. I have had no regrets whatsoever. If I get to the point where I feel some overpowering connection to the physicality of reading instead of the wonderfulness of the stories I read, I will give it up. Pure and simple. I control my life as best I can. I strive to the best of my ability to not allow objects to control it for me. I am 5,823 years of age. When you get to be my age, priorities change. The silliness of placing value upon physical objects becomes quite evident.

Well, I certainly agree on one point: e-books have DRASTICALLY reduced the size of my printed book collection! I so much enjoy reading e-books.

it's a bleak sunny and pleasant day here... some people have only hardbacks, some have only e-books, most of us I think are mix and match. I love physical books ranging from brand new to ancient, via tatty but loved paperbacks but I'm not averse to e-books at all.
