I am a Latter-day Saint, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, converted unto The Lord. I bought an older edition of The King James Bible, from 1700, and it contains the Book of Common Prayer. After a while I decided to read it. I stand in awe of the beauty of The Book of Common Prayer. To me it is Scripture, above that of the Apocrypha, in portions on a par with the Psalms, and deeply inspired. I am happy to hear you speak of this lovely and amazing work that had to be inspired of God.

Yes, the words of this lovely book are quite magical and enchanting. I learned them in my little English village where they formed an integral part of life's weekly pattern, adding structure to my life and creating a certain attitude of behaviour towards both my God and other people. In life's more poignant moments, I am always pleasantly surprised to hear people recite a little phrase from its pages, often unaware of its origin.

Thank you for your presentation. I have an English heritage and was curious about the common religion of many of my ancestors, along with The Book Of Common Prayer.

Thanks lawilson! You are right on target, and some additional depth regarding history and use would have been helpful. Lots of great information, but hard to pack it all in! Perhaps BCP part II will be another video. Thank you again for watching! -Fr. Koz

What is the ISBN of the BCP/Hymnal you have there? I LOVE the size of it compared to what I have

I was baptized in 1962 and confirmed in 1977, so the BCP in use at the time was the 1928 version. However, I am a little disappointed with your presentation. If I were a non-Episcopalian, I would not have learned why the BCP is used for common worship, its history and traditions by watching this video. I too love the BCP and how the prayer book serves as a guide for worship on a daily basis. There is a foundation that I do not get from non-liturgical churches.

How many pages of the book of common prayer did God write?

There is a prayer called "The Prayer of Humble Access". I think it's in the book of common prayer. It is not a good prayer though. "Grant us therefore gracious God..." What could this mean? Grant us? Jesus had already said "Do this in remembrance of me" but now we need to ask permission? Or is this the ability? This doctrine that not all have the ability to come to Christ is not at all helpful.
