God is more. Yes, he gives peace for your own destiny. But also makes you worry about the others. Can't live selfishly anymore, can't be silent, when you know - when you've experienced God and Heaven is true, and Devil and Hell. Not that Devil is an obstacle to God, but for us he is. There's no middle ground, no neutral ground - we're not observers in our own life. That's what's at stake. God is not an opinion - he's life. Anything in this life pulsates him (well - him or her are understatements for the totality of life). In the particles of the atoms, or stellar bodies, there's the beat of life. And that life is interested and worried about us, his creation.

It shows the truest difference between those who use the bible for evil and those who use it to help and care for others, like it was meant to be. It shows how powerful and important faith is and that even in a world where humans slaughter and eat each other, the flower of hope can still blossom even if surrounded by fire and death. If the average Joe could accomplish Jack to help himself through “self-belief”, the world wouldn’t be perpetually under the thumb of the greedy, apathetic, and corrupt. The very best the common man comes up with is standing in the street waving signs and screaming about their rights while the higher ups sit in their lofty towers and laugh at the inanity. All the so-called self-reliance and determination in the world, in the end, amounts to nothing more than hubris peddled to the self-important to make them *think* they themselves will make a difference, when really, by their efforts the very best they could accomplish is merely continuing to put the weak and corruptible into power while status quo remains the same. As such, it’s no coincidence that the only TRULY remarkable, game-changing, world impacting people who ever walked this Earth all gave themselves over to the will of a Power much greater than themselves. They weren’t “self-righteous”: they acknowledged they had no true righteousness or power in and of themselves, they could only achieve it through humility and submission to their the one who Made them. People like Martin Luther King Jr., Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Fry, Helen Keller, Mother Theresa-the world never afforded the lot of them any illusions of self-reliance. But they didn’t need it. They had Something much greater. Failure to acknowledge this truth amounts to nothing more than self-willed blindness. A pitiable determination to run incessantly on the hamster wheel of self-reliance and self-importance over nothing more than sheer foolish pride. In the end, it doesn’t matter how people with agendas interpreted the Word. The Word speaks for itself, and what it speaks is simple, inalienable Truth that no amount of “self belief” or “self perception” will ever supersede.

A Religious man within a corrupt and destroyed world; whilst this kind of world isn't exactly visible to him, but with all of his faith and senses he can see just that even if his eyes don't work the way they should. Always go west; a type of dedication and determination rare found within the human race. He kept going west and made it to where he was supposed to be, maybe not himself but towards the girl that picked up on this faith and fought the good fight, finishing the race. Keeping the faith.

Somehow this song had a huge impact in my life, in the way I saw things walking down my way out of highschool. I can't possibly be the only one, that saw beyond good and evil, the calm and peace of clouds running by with this music.

The only beyond good and evil is the good and only good. Sublimity has been mistaken for the infinite reprise of beauty. Both the said and the ineffable are moments in the beautiful; both the fitting and the utter infinity of goodness which is overflowing and so full of words and clarity and delight that no single word can exhaust its meaning, or its loveliness. Beyond good and evil does not mean not good or evil. Peace is not bereft of goodness. Goodness is peace, and peace is goodness. Peace is not bereft of passion. Passion is peace, and peace is passion. Peace is not apathetic. Peace feels only bliss, and tastes only sweetness, but does not conceive of pain. Pain breaks its sword on peace, but peace does not raise a sword. Peace does not does need chaos to feel itself. Peace is the Atman that revels in itself. Power was foiled at Golgotha; they came looking for the living among the dead, and found no dead man; but nor did they find a ghost, but a living, breathing man, who was the living Atman, who is awake within the world its home. They touched him because he was flesh. They saw the color of his eyes because they did have color. They glimpsed the face of Brahman, because he has a face, because he IS a face, because he is always with his humanity. There was no time for sleep. He did not become himself by sleeping, but awoke into himself, living in the world his home. Brahman is awake and breathing, and his name is you and me. You are made of love, loved into being by love to love and to have love and for love's sake and nothing but love's sake. There was no "necessary reason", no need, no ground, just groundless, boundless love. You are love tasting itself.

Everything about The Book of Eli is stunning. The visuals, the soundtrack, the performances by every actor and actress, it is criminally underrated. The message behind the story is so powerful. Finally how awesome was Gary Oldman? I know he's a legendary actor but when he plays the bad guy he takes it to the highest level.

Typically i dont care for "pre fight prayers" but something hella profound in the bar scene where he just puts his stuff down and says "Cursed be the ground, for our sake. Both thorns and thistles shall it bring forth, for us, for out of the ground we were taken for the dust that we are... and to the dust we shall return." Like eveyrone int he bar is just like.. wtf...

It wasn't a prayer. It was a recitation of the Biblical precept Eli knew was about to come to pass - that in the Curse on creation due to the sin of Adam in the Garden, both mortality and pain would become humanity's lot in a now frail life. Thorns and thistles and subsistence living under the jackboots of violence, exploitation and oppression were all ours now. The quote was from the book of Genesis, pronounced by God upon errant humanity. Remember what he gave his life up to do .. preserve the Bible's truth. He was reminding them what was about to happen. And everyone in the bar didn't have a clue. He knew and he did

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in Green Pastures, he leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ~Psalm 23

If there are people out there who disliked this just because of the Bible aspect, that's unfair and a bit prejudice. The movie clearly explains how the Bible can be used for both good and selfish means. The main character happened to use it for good purposes. It wasn't preachy or in your face about anything. If that bugged people that's...ridiculous. I wouldn't care if it were a Quran or Book of Mormon or whatever, good movie, good story, good lessons.
