I really appreciated all the historical info in the prefaces. I also appreciate the narrator's pronunciation of the Hebrew names in the text. And there are many, with all the geneologies. Much more accurate in many cases than others I have heard. Now, one, Christopher Glyn, is a masterful speaker and renders the book in a very moving and realistic way, but many of his pronunciations of names leave much to be desired. I wonder why preachers say that either the Book of Jasher doesnt exist or that its all fabrication, when in fact direct Scriptural quotes appear in it. This book provides so much detail and context about the lives of the patriarchs and their struggles it should have been in Scripture. For example the staff of Adam in which the name of God was written passed through the generations(through the Flood even) to Reuell to Moses, and that staff was used to perform Gods miracles in Egypt. Unbelievable that info isnt in Scripture.

I have been listening to The Book of Jasher for several years. I love it, but I noticed that some parts have been omitted and I wonder why. For instance, in the past, Noah’s appearance when he was born was beautiful, his hair white and his eyes lit up the room. And when the Ark settled on the mountain, Noah sent out a dove two times until the dove came back with a leaf. These parts are no longer in this recording. I’m disappointed.

In reference to chapter 4. The book of Genesis ch 6 KJV says sons of God not sons of men. In reference to Jasher ch 5, God repenting of Evil? Since when does the Almighty God do evil. Hmmm, I’m not so sure about this book of Jasher. So far some seems in correlation with the Bible and some just the opposite. Praying for discernment before reading these extras would be wise.

Language. When Yahweh says he "repents of evil", it means that he had second thoughts about passing a judgment of punishment upon those who had transgressed. He prefers mercy and repentance, rather than smiting with punishment for sin. "Sons" has different meanings, depending on which Hebrew word is used, and in which context. It sometimes refers to the sons of Adam, who was a "son" of the Creator. There is much more to be gained from this book, than to be afraid of.

Do a little study all you readers do a little study as to how you pronounce the words the names of the people you represent when you read of them....
