I don't care what anyone says. This scene is beautiful. Knowing that the bull is composed of every bull the Sanchez family killed, and that it's a Sanchez apologizing to it and helping their distressed souls find peace, it's especially heartwarming and beautiful.

Have you even SEEN Coco? The only things that movie has in common with this are its setting in Mexico (albeit MODERN Mexico), it's set during the Day of the Dead, the music ban (which plays a MUCH bigger role in Coco), and it takes place in the Land of the Dead. However, Coco borrows a lot more things from Mexican culture such as the Aberlijes (guardian chimera beasts), the inclusion of a Xolo (hairless Mexican dog) named Dante, Frida Kahlo (an incredibly famous Mexican artist), and the characters aren't represented by wooden figures with a framing device and are instead flesh and blood (like Miguel, Dante, and Pepita) or talking skeletons with eyes (the majority of the Land of the Dead). Don't get me wrong, I love Book of Life, but saying Coco is a rip-off of it? Sure, why not? They're only two movies that center around Dio De Los Muertes.

The best part about this scene is the context, Manolo being the first Sanchez to apologize to the many bulls his family killed breaks the chain since “A Sanchez Man never apologizes.” That’s why the Bull’s eyes had widen once he had said he was sorry
@eduardosolis63835 ай бұрын
I have been told that saying sorry doesn’t cut it or make up for the violence or killing of the last. But Manolo was attempting to make peace for a beast who had been no harm except been made for fighting and killing it for sport. And that he sang to make his apology and softness be heard so that the poor thousands bulls’ souls would let go of generations of anger and have peace. And he has succeeded and won.

Here's something to think about. The bull turns to flowers. La Muerte's realm is covered in flowers. You could say this song gave the bulls the recognition and respect they believed they should have gotten. A transition from the Land of the Forgotten to the Land of the Remembered.

It's like the bull doesn't believe him after he first says sorry. He believes he's being tricked, he charges Manolo, threatens to stomp him, and when Manolo doesn't back down, he knows he's not just being lured into a false sense of security as an attack. Manolo was willing to be killed just to say a genuine apology, and finally this puts out the bull's flame. All their collective souls are feeling genuine sympathy for the first time, and from the bloodline that bred them to kill them, no less. "Although we were bred to fight" is so powerful, because the bulls were born and raised only to be brutally killed, and Manolo was born and raised to kill them. Manolo is the first one in a family line to defy that, and he gets down on one knee and begs for the bulls to break this pattern of hatred as well.

@@mauriciolizarbe4835 What is life with anger, hatred, and bitterness but a hollow shell. I recall one book I read where a character was driven by little else and at one point was told to set foot in a place to prove who he was (in that series there are shapeshifters who can deceive people by taking their appearance). The location in question drives away such emotions leaving a sense of peace making it a sanctuary (although not a perfect one) against evil. When he came back out, he noted that without these things driving him he is empty, although by his own admission part of that comes from not knowing much of his life. He had lost his memory and had experienced much that had caused his current mindset. Even his name was not his own, it belonged to someone who helped him out of kindness and was killed for it. It still serves as a good way to show that anger, hatred, and bitterness make for something of a hollow life, and this movie shows how empty it can make an afterlife.

After reading the comments I would like to input on what I've read The way that the fire burns does seem to reference the bulls anger. Remember every single bull that the sanchez family killed combined into one big bull. Of course the bulls are anger at the family and seeing the next generation must be inferior for the bulls. Imagine all the pain and hate of every single murdered bull fused together. Also I feel as if the bulls are hearing from a sanchez family member apologize to every single one of them. You can see that the bulls listen and calm down. Its as if the bulls are listening and forgive them. Every single bull must have been touched just by the song of forgiveness. to think that these murder animals just wanted an apology for the pain thrusted on to them is beautiful. After saying sorry the bulls lay down as if they are tired. All that hate and sorrow caused by one family must've hurt but like I said the apology from said family heals them. While the bulls calm down their eyes literally feel so Tired from all of this. What if the flower petals symbolize ever bull accepting the apology? Just think of it there are probably 100s of bulls that were murdered. Once Manolo lays his palm on the bulls chin you can clearly see from that touch the bull turns into petals. Just as if the bulls were now completed and feel the pain and hate lift. The petals float up into a spiral like the bulls were gonna help him to go up. They understood the love from this man. The best thing about this song is that manolo actually means it. Even tho manolo didnt physically kill the bulls it was just an apology that turned there pain into love. In conclusion the song/apology is all the bulls needed from the family. They were just bulls who were Captured and tormented. Although the family killed them mabolo understood the pain the bulls had. The guitar might symbolize his heart in a way. This is one of the best movies in my opinion
