Superbook was made in the 80's and I didn't even realize it as a kid but it was anime. Two kids and a robot named Gizmo read the bible and are somehow transported into the times of the stories. I loved this show as a kid, my parents bought me vhs tapes of it. There was a reboot too that came out maybe 10 years ago and I think there were different kids but they kept gizmo and made it 3d.
