This must be how my nieces and nephews felt trying to read this over my shoulders. (I let them read it individually after with a lot of "don't bend the corners" and "careful with that! It's a keep sake"). They all were doubting ballbusters during the waiting process. They read it and wanted more story but wished they got a copy of their own. They're the microwave/instant gratification generation from my POV but I think they let the naysayers on Twitter get to them too. Now they want to back the I.P. and some want to start their own. One's already CG, I expect a few more to join the family soon.

That smear campaign was so weird. Even if a backer were to believe the BS, they would know it's a lie when they got the book in the mail. It's like the NPCs forgot this book wasn;t going to stores and everyone who wanted it, had already paid for it. Just like the ones who said they would buy Jawbreakers just to scan it and leak it online. It doesn't matter. It's been paid for. You aren't hurting the sales, the transaction was already complete

I loved the book. First for the art. Ethan's drawings are magnificent and then Kyle Ritter gave them so much more depth. Those two together could sell me anything. I watched Professor Geek's review and I have to say, it drew me deeper into the story and made me see things differently than I had on my first reading. The first one is always wanting to find out what happens, subsequent readings are for depth and character. The thing that caught me most is A) Heather looks a lot like Ethan's wife, what a tribute!, B) the theme of "The Mother" throughout the entire story grabs your heart, especially the scene with Salamandroid and The Ship, all the way to finding out Heather is a mother with Cyberfrog returning to him after they've lost The Ship. A lot of thought went into this story.

Great review, TUG. Really highlights the significance of doing comics that are intended to become ongoing series, not necessarily just one-off campaigns. Nothing wrong with one-offs, but if you're going to sustain an industry, you need ongoing series that people will invest themselves into. Cheers, and best wishes to you and your family! 😊

The cyberfrog has landed in Belgium baby! My copy arrived yesterday and i'm excited to read it, have only had time to quikly scan some of the art and it looks fantastic! Hope to have the time to read it tonight :) Thing to note is, i only dabble in US comics, really only since the last few years after i discovered up some interesting vertigo stuff (the royals) and '68 , i.e. not your run of the mill marvel/dc superhero stuff...(and sure as hell not the current sjw nonsense)... so when i do pick up US comics at cons or when im in the US, i usually either go for "quirky" or 90s stuff (picked up some terminator and aliens dark horse stuff this summer :D) so this seemed right up my alley :) And contributing to uncle E beeing able to wave a million dollar IP in the face of the evil sjws, is just the icing on the cake :)

But it has white straight male, that's racist and sexist and homophobic and islamophobic! We need to change this tried and proved, but problematic, review method to make it more inclusive, that will surely attract all the marginalized audience who doesn't watch these videos because they're only made for white straight incels! Also it needs more food talk, because that's so cool ,but not McDonald's, that's for fat incels who live in their mother's basement, it has to be something modern from Starbucks.

Wait, was there actually controversy surrounding the number of pages? As in, people were upset that the comic wasn't *shorter?* Why would someone be angry that they got more content? Was the pacing of the story too slow because of it? The only valid reason I can think of is its impact on page quality. I've heard complaints about the paper, but it doesn't look like it's diaphanous toilet paper like some people are saying. Can someone explain this to me? It looks like the comic book has great art, has an interesting story, and lots of content - all good things, in my book.
@lordorielrising46735 жыл бұрын
James K the controversy was that Uncle E used magazine paper versus high quality comic paper and the paper has some small waves in it due to the heat drying of the ink. He did this because comic paper was too thick for the number of pages in the chromium binding process. Ethan is going to limit new books to 50+ pages in the future.
@jamesk72565 жыл бұрын
@@lordorielrising4673 Do the pages feel bad, though? I get that the quality could be higher, but the whole "toilet paper" thing sounds pretty hyperbolic. Back when I was a kid I don't remember magazines using such thin paper, but this was many years ago and I haven't even touched a magazine in over a decade.
@jamesk72565 жыл бұрын
@@VikkiVerse Are there fewer than 88 pages? Or do you mean only 54 of those pages are the story and the remaining 34 are art and other bonus material?
@jamesk72565 жыл бұрын
@@VikkiVerse OK, so 54 pages of story with 26 pages of bonus material. This hardly seems like a scandal? Are people actually outraged over this?
@Vermiliontea5 жыл бұрын
I think Ethan's obsession with having a Chromium cover variant was a mistake. That led to staples. That in turn led to unnecessarily thin (albeit hi quality) paper in order to hold 80 pages. Other than that, it's mind blowing stuff. Easily the best art I've ever seen collected into a comic book. But I do think Doug, Zack and Jon have better ideas about how the book should be, than Ethan and Mike. Stop thinking floppy, and start thinking 'book'.
