This was an episode of roughnecks. Several different ones mashed together. The whole group going to save the base sedge by bugs. Bugs taking over characters. Mix mash of ideas done better on the tv show.

Great review! Also, probably a minor thing, but it really annoyed me: The guns!! You can see that they are the exact same props from the last movie, yet they shoot laser now and have no recoil. Trained soldiers swinging them around in one hand, like a kid with sugar overdose. I know it's not that iconic like the pulse rifle from the alien movies, but it really bothered me. I can get behind the idea that soldiers slowly learned where the semi auto button is, but I think being surrounded by bugs as far as the eye can see is one of those rare occasions when switching to full auto is a good idea.

I think you misinterpreted the ending. He murdered his comrades in the facility prior to the troopers arrival. If he went home they would have known of his actions, and sentenced him to death either way. But he's still recognised as a war hero because he did something honourable. I'm not defending the movie, it's an awful movie, but it's fun to watch, for silly, over the top low budget action.

Hot take: I don't think the warrior bugs in this movie looks that bad. They're certainly not as great as the first one, and I think they were smart not to show them in bright light other than the fence scene, and I think it works. They look SO much worse in Marauder, lol.

Honestly, I don't know how this channel isn't more popular. The character, comedy and format is so much better, in my opinion, than someone like Nostalgia Critic. Hopefully one day you get the hits you deserve.

Dax (and Sahara too if you think about it) would have likely been courts-martial and since this is the Starship Troopers universe, executed anyways. Dax before they came killed his superior officers, followed by killing a general in plain sight of the rescue squad. I doubt they'll give them the benefit of the doubt on a "new bug type" that all of a sudden can just control their fellow soldiers and their superiors. Holding off enemy units for his wounded comrade and the rescue team was the most honourable thing he could do before biting the bullet, and let's him die on his terms as opposed to just being killed by the military. Far as he's concerned, going out as a killer who redeemed himself by protecting his comrades is a whole lot better than "that guy who tried to pull off that crappy Invasion of the Body-Snatchers defense." And I'll beat you to it, all the evidence of the new type is deep in enemy territory and is now only witness testimony of a trooper who may be an accessory to a general's murder... Pretty bleak ending actually. At best, they might look into reports or send intelligence officers and scouts to see if they are breeding them, but she's still executed or imprisoned until they file it as a mistrial (which may not exist given we are talking about the very militarized government of Starship Troopers) and at worst she just gets tried as obstructing justice with stupid stories and is executed without any proper trial.

I loved Starship Troopers 1 when I first saw it when I was little and I still do to this day along with the universe of Starship Troopers in general, but the second film....God, was that a horrible fuck up. Marauder was a little bit better but not a long shot. At least they brought back Rico though I prefer Invasion out of all the sequels because at least they bring the three characters we know back, sure not all reprise their roles but at least they're characters we know.

And the lamps were so now and then literally pushed in my face so I HAD to make fun of it, thanks for liking it man :) Because it wasn't exactly clear to me that the girl was supposed to be a psychic who only could see stuff through hand contact, the scene with the psychedelic tunnelvision and....just plain creepy baby, came as a total WTF shock to me, even more than the pink elephants in Dumbo, at least they were a drunk vision, this came right the crap out of nowhere XD; ....I haven't watched the third movie of ST though...Im afraid it's gonna be way too bad even though it supposedly has Rico in it again...

3 is even worse. The effects are shit. What is bad is that it cons you into thinking its 1 but then changes to a 2 clone. Tippet was a special effects expert so its a shame he didn't direct something else.
