One of my favorite episodes since it capturing the feeling of dealing with 'that side' of the family so well. The ungrateful aunt and the bum cousin who acts like a thug are way too well written to not be based on the authors own experiences.

I watched the eye of Hurricane Katrina pass over me as a 13 year old boy. Went from violent as all hell, literally had trees falling on the house from the winds, with us in it, to calm, sunny, dead quiet, just like that. No birds singing, just silence. I went outside, looked up, saw a beautiful blue sky, the sun was shining, above all of the violence and sheer chaos, there was the clear blue sky and sun shining, apathetic to our plight below. And then it got really dark again, and the winds came back with a vengeance with the rains, and I ran inside again as the trees started falling.

Ya that was a terrible situation.. natural disasters. How kind of them did to take them in. People are so ungrateful.. i would've stopped paying for groceries a week in lol. "I'm fine with the cheap stuff🥺" me, "ya you are lucky, you could be drinking tap water".. or like you said "nothing". We share or food, electricity and watch your kids and what do we get? Nothin!
