Neighborhood Watch has been a real thing in the past. Mostly in upscale communities where certain people (usually older retirees) have a lot of free time. I think more so in the past couple decades they just got phased out in favor of private security. Like Tom says in the episode: A neighborhood watch doesn’t have any legal authority to arrest or even detain anyone. It’s more of a “if you think you see something, call the cops” program. 19:10 They got Bill Duke to reprise his scene from Menace II Society. “You know you done F’d up, right…” 😂
@mage1439Ай бұрын
As someone who loves M2S, I'm a big fan of that scene.
@HJ109 күн бұрын
AKA they literally only just are supposed to watch the neighborhood, hence the name, you can't really actually do anything about it like attacking them or something because then you might get in trouble for assault or something, I know there's a whole citizen's arrest thing but I don't really know how that fully works, I know it means that is some sort of thing that is allowed in citizens to hold suspects to the police get there but as far as what you're allowed to actually do to hold and suspect around I don't know

I just remember neighborhood watches being a bunch of people noticing and paying more "attention" to unfamiliar people through their window blinds, and sometimes calling the police on innocent people. Profiling people visiting friends and families on those blocks, or people doing some kind of work there😮💨 In theory though, it's supposed to be the first line of defense for NIMBY neighborhoods, as witnesses mainly to crimes that may go down there though so they can give law enforcement the details they need. Some people and some neighborhoods go over the top though.
@HJ109 күн бұрын
Well yeah hence the name neighborhood watch, they're supposed to watch the neighborhood, and basically called the police, if you see neighborhood watch signs and basically just means the people around there will call the police for suspicious activity, Anton is right about not really being able to do much because the same way that there are stores who have policies where they're not allowed to chase a shoplifter because then the store could get sued or the person doing it could get charged as well, I'm not entirely sure how citizens arrest work in the sense that I know it means you're allowed to hold a suspect to the police comes when you catch them in the middle of committing the crime, but I'm not really sure what exactly you're allowed to do to actually make sure the person stays around either

09:16 Neighbourhood watch organisations are quite common in the East Coast. They just mostly noticeable among predominantly White or mixed communities. Like in this fictional Woodcrest, Maryland, neighbourhood watch is more like necessity above anything: most people live in private houses, police rarely patrolling streets (do to other jobs to do) and neighbours are first who can quickly respond. Because elder people mostly spending time on the hood, they are majority in these organisations. Plus, they are not some paramilitary groups, they are just ordinary citizens who watching over their community.

Your neighborhood watch Idea already exist. It's called a gang literally how the crips and bloods were formed
@YoungYahtz94Ай бұрын
My boy they diverted from that original purpose a long, long time ago. Even OGs will tell you that. They ain’t been the “neighborhood watch” since like the 70s lol they just basically urban terrorists now.
@HJ109 күн бұрын
And some cartoons down in Mexico actually too, some of them started out as people trying to defend themselves against the cartels and actually winning, but then basically just taking over themselves because of poverty cuz of poverty basically both did the same thing and started the same way AKA you either die a hero live long enough to become a villain, and even the same with people who make malicious, some st normal and not paranoid while others will actively try to fight the police😂

Keeping it 1 episode per vid makes it easier for people to find a particular episode that they want to watch you react to. Also would help you to avoid demonetization because if one episode in particular is going to get hit for whatever reason, at least it would be that one episode, and not two episodes getting hit for all the time that gets put in for editing and what not

You know from what I understand about how snitching actually works as viewed, it's really only a thing for Street dudes and career criminals, and even then only really against other career criminals and gangsters cuz y'all are supposed to handle it between yourselves at that point, but even then, there are a lot of exceptions to this and different gangs handle it differently, play how many people will cut deals by giving up information, or somebody commits a certain crime against you, for example say someone stole your car, you're probably going to call the police even if you are a gangster because come on realistically are you really going to go searching around looking for your own car, hell no! You're going to call the cops about it and it, or say something like some random ass person just robs you and attacks you and you end up in the hospital and the Cubs question you, and you give em ingo, it wouldn't really be considered snitching, it's honestly actually a bit more complicated then many people know and I learned all this from different people who were in jail with me who were in gangs, oh or one of the most interesting cases in my opinion my opinion of a gang working with the cops is how there were certain mafia families who worked with the FBI as informants because it meant that some of their crimes would be just overlooked and they would get information about the rival mafia families as it was genuinely just a good deal to them,,,,,🤷 that when I learned about in a documentary
