Conquerer of thousands of species, highest population of any empire in the galaxy, remarkably resilient and adaptive. Weaknesses? Worf with a knife and Picard in the midst of a beserker fury. And all things called ‘Voyager’ xD

Ah yes, the Borg... I had some nightmares about those when I was younger. My dad was watching the movie and the idea of creatures that forcefully converted you into one of their own was rather terrifying. Now, though, I find it intriguing. I do enjoy species and races that, rather than outright kill you, transformed a person in the way of transmutation of the body or mind. Feels more insidious in that regard. Of course, I would be terrified if these sort of things existed in real life but we thankfully have no need to worry. Great video, good sir! Please keep your hard work and have a wonderful day.

The borg is the dumbest race ever conceives. Like any miltary with explosives can literally walk into any borg ship and so on plant bombs and walk out without the borg ever attacking them. What armed species would like trespass do whatever they want and not detain or question them. Their reason of existence is even more of a paradox. To integrate technology that better than the borg into the borg, but to capture said technology they must have technology capable of capturing it. So what if there's no technology advance enough to capture said technology.

If you're able to board the Borg ship, they seem to prefer fighting hand to hand as they want to assimilate rather than kill. They're able to adapt to any energy weapon, but remain vulnerable to physical attacks. Therefore, what the Federation should do in fighting the Borg, is build ships specifically to fight the Borg that are fitted with massive railguns. They would have some of the regular energy weapons as well, but would be meant to be used only when necessary to allow an escape or finishing opportunity, using them as little as possible because of the Borg's adaptability. Hand-held railguns would be the most ideal weapon against the Borg for Federation crew against the Borg drones. However, if the quick speed of the rounds had them able to be adapted to, then all crew on these ships would also be highly trained in Martial Arts, and their primary weapons would instead be things such as throwing knives, swords and tomahawks, since it seems certain that the Borg never adapt to take the slower strikes as from a sword. The primary flaw in the Federation's strategy in fighting the Borg appears to be the belief that higher technology is somehow the answer to beating them, rather than reverting to older technology.

It would be fascinating to have a Borg origin story, where they start out with nascent implants here and then and grouped hive minds (like a military squadron) before devolving into a totalitarian dystopia where everyone of the species is forced into the hive mind and implants. Or perhaps that would hit a bit too close to home Black Mirror style.

Love the videos, sir. I have messaged you a few times, thank you for always replying. The Borg are my all time favorite villains. You know, if you think about it, the Borg aren't that much technologically that much more advanced than the rest of the galaxy. It is their ability to adapt to almost any situation and quickly that made them almost superior
@Draco_Alpha
@Draco_Alpha 6 жыл бұрын
So basically Borg drones are technically individuals, but are quickly driven to insanity when they’re connected to the hive mind? Damn, that makes them even more sinister. That would explain why they don’t show any interest in anything except for what the collective wills... They have simply given up and resigned themselves to an eternity of hopelessness. That seems like a complete and total failure on a technological level in the hive system... I would have thought that in the quest for perfection they would have at some point implemented some sort of system to keep the hive mind in some sort of order. Unless the original Borg race had a disdain for individuality... Fuck. My mind.
@goofygoober779

In Deep Space 9 it was shown that the federation has miniaturized teleportation technology and could mount it on a gun and literally have it teleport the bullet to within inches of the target Would it be possible to have something like that be an Anti Borg weapon by having the bullet teleport to inside their shields
@ganados0

The main problem there is they'd have to do it while they regenerate otherwise moving targets would be difficult and since the Borg can revive fallen drones those shot down may not stay down long.

If anything if you look at the Borg exiles on Voyager they actually create a communist society by using their implants to communicate their thoughts and feelings and open manner and a democratic matter with no individual being forced or coerced to have the right to think

Even though I was never a big fan of Star Trek in general, The Borg are amongst my favorite villains in all of Sci-Fi. They perfectly represent what kind of an existential threat a superficially diverse, yet mentally homogenous hivemind can truly be. The Borg more than any other group of villains highlight just how dangerous the ideology "Diversity Is Our Strength" really is.

I was wondering if there is a particular reason you didn't cover the back story for the borg written for and shown in the Stars Trek legacy game. That was pretty interesting information concerning a portion from Earth falling into a black whole and coming into contact with a race of machines. Also mentions something to the fact that the ship that returned to earth in Star Trek The Motion Picture was the first contact situation with the borg. It's where I was led to believe the assimilation process started. Not sure if all my facts are right but as far as I could remember.

The perfection of the Borg is a wishful desires in A Matrix like mental cocoon is where we wish to not be abundant in our selfish motives in ignoring pain. While, humans are really the false reasons in learning how to live alone and with skepticism in why others are not perfect.

It's better to keep their origin a mystery. Not everything needs to be explained.

In the book Discovery they came from a super advanced race called the Caeliar after an incident with early warp humans. Also the temporal drive was given to the Borg by the sphere builders
