What I don’t get is that many of these horses have never seen a show ring ….for these prices I would expect extensive show wins. It’s nice that they are quiet and put up with kids crawling under/on them…they all lay down etc. But these things a good trainer can teach in very little time

I've got a eclectic herd of horses, from a registered Thoroughbred and an Oldenburg bred warmblood to a grade Belgian cross all the way to an unregistered Quarter Horse and a Tennessee Walking Horse, plus the Mini that just showed up one day years ago and a scraggly fellow I rescued a few weeks ago. The best, smartest, and cutest of them all is my unregistered Quarter Horse mare (whom I will never part with), so it made my heart do a little dance that the highest priced horse of the sale was also a horse without papers! There are some people who have looked down on her, and with her, me, because of the lack of registration, but 'papers don't make the horse'. All papers do is give a person a general idea of what a horse may be capable of doing, but they're no guarantee of that horse's abilities or talents. On paper, my TB mare ought to be tearing up a track, but she's pretty slow when it comes to her breed's average. On paper, my warmblood ought to be competing in World's in 5 more years' time, with a pedigree that dreams are made of, and so far, he's the silliest, least graceful, and most immature 3 year old I've ever dealt with. My little QH mare, though. She's the one I go to when I want to ride bareback and bridleless, while going over obstacles of any kind. She lays down for me, and will sidepass over to me when I want to mount up on her (after I find something to stand on). She's always beside me when I'm in her pasture or paddock. I credit her with saving me from a Copperhead bite when she was a yearling because she freaked out at a pile of leaves I was moving to a burn pile and she didn't want me to approach it while she snorted, reared and stomped away at it. I found the snake as I was pitchforking the leaves into the fire. She is the bravest horse I have, and isn't afraid of traffic, tractors, or loud noises. I even use her back as a shooting table! I love them all, but I use to kind of scoff at the idea of that one special horse, but now I know what a heart horse is, and it is her. Moral to my long-winded story is that if you find one that suits you, resonates within you, and makes you happily content, don't let a lack of registration papers prevent you from enjoying what might be the best relationship you may ever find with that one special horse.

Top seller at the Premier Auction in Fort Worth, summer 2023, went for $265,000. The same sellers are hitting all these big money auctions, the Duane Yoder amish guy is at every single one and almost always has the high seller. Does it bother anyone else that these sellers take such chances with their little bitty kids lives just to sell a horse?

I was on a horse pretty young and these horses are trained for this. I’m sure they know what they’re doing. I get it though, you really never can trust a big animal like that. But broke and trained horses are two different things. My dad was a trick rider back in the day. and his horse would stand for all this kind of stuff. His horses were trained!

My parents let me ride at a very young age and because of it it was a natural feeling to be horseback. I would have rather been horseback than on my own feet any day! The younger you are the easier it is to learn. A lot of these kids WANT to be on the horse and help show it, they love it! BUT I agree that parents should be aware of the dangers of horses and be smart about what they are letting their kids do horseback.

I hate to say my yearling, really he was probably 18 months old. My kids then two and four years old would ride him or sit on him when I led him to the pasture from the barn. We were putting blankets and pads on this horse at a very early age. I never gave it a thought what other people would think. I started training him at five months old , he was pulled off his mom and given to me at four and a have months. Poor baby! I became his companion, sergeant mother and my boys were his play mate. he was a crop out , a paint that didn’t have color. Although his breeding was impeccable, I couldn’t care less about his color, I was just thrilled I had the opportunity to work with something so spectacular . And just because I thought he was spectacular he became spectacular!

Hi what a horse sale! Horses went for so much money! Do they only allow Geldings? I never heard any mares, I personally wouldn’t mind paying that kind of money for a mare they can still be used if they got injured for breeding. I don’t believe I would ever pay the money the geldings brought because if they get hurt they are done with know other use. Just my opinion. What a great sale though. Thank You for filming it! ❤
@cnahorses
@cnahorses 3 ай бұрын
Most of the horses were geldings. Lot 25 was a mare and she sold for $78,000 - I agree, mares hold value even if they get injured and cannot be ridden anymore. I think the general public gets along with geldings better because they don’t have the hormones studs and mares do 😆 just my thoughts! Thanks for coming along!! 🥰

34:03 That mane and tail and the feather on their legs is hours of upkeep making sure they don't rub out parts of their mane, detangling, brushing and conditioning, braiding, possibly treating leg mites and mud fever. 35:44 damn those Malinois are a bit overweight. What was the pedigree on the horse that went for 155k? 22k for the Pitzer horse with great reining lines, wow that was a good deal.

I watched the sale. It’s a great sale……… they truly need different ground to sell these horses on. Sliding, slipping, tripping and getting injured is awful. Why on earth would they put these quality, expensive horses on grass like that 🤯 As a seller I would be very apprehensive about doing anything but walking them slowly on that slippery grass. Especially after watching a few get hurt and limp out of the sale area.

@@cnahorses I didn’t say ALL….I said lots of them. Sorry to be the barrier of bad/neg news but my experience tells me there were NOT all real sales. My experience……Raised, shown n sold horses for 50+ yrs. AQHA even gave me my 50 yr breeder award. Dad was trainer/breeder too n I grew up at horse sales, horse shows n rodeos as well. Then as life has it, I married an Auctioneer. Then we bought a livestock auction n owned n operated it for 20 yrs. I’m not trying to be mean, u just aren’t aware of all the inter works that take place at auctions yet. Just because the auctioneer calls out he has a bid doesn’t mean he has a real bid or sometimes a bid at all. Go back n listen to the auctioneer how many times he calls sold then says “give it to Jason” or “internet” instead of a buyers number n the crowd. That’s a “n ur face” clue if u know what’s really going on. I could tell u more but I’m not going to type out a book on here. Ur young, go find u an old timer horse trader n work for them n pick their brain.

I’m extremely against these sales. They are basically a con. Some horses there these people have genuinely put hard work into, but most are just flipper horses. These people are going and buying up finished reining horses for bottom dollar, throwing a few tricks on them, then flipping for a major profit. Someone spent a ton of money and time creating these nice performance horses just to have someone buy them cheap and claim all the work with minimal effort. As a reining breeder and trainer, I challenge anyone at this sale to show me video records of them getting the horses as 2yo and training them from start to finish… I don’t think people realize how extremely difficult it is to fully train a reining horse at this level. They are so broke by that point, that throwing some kids on them and doing a few tricks is a walk in the park. I may make a video exposing this because it’s getting out of hand. Most of these horses are what we call “rejects” too. They were started late, weren’t quite good enough for the show pen, have a minor injury that could of been worsened by showing, or the previous owner had something personal happen and needed to sell their show horse asap for a loss to cover unexpected bills.

I would LOVE to see what you come up with. Some of the Amish abuse their work horses by withholding necessary vet care when they are past their usefulness, then instead of putting the animal down they sell it at below slaughter prices to shady auctions and kill pens often in horrible condition with bad feet, cellulitis in their legs, unsoundness and other medical problems, it's all about the bottom dollar with them. I asked Amry why some of these horses sell for so much? Is it the buyer's deep pockets, bragging rights as in I bought the high selling horse, what, please help me out here. I watch Matt Mills and through his videos I've learned a bit about reining horse lines and training.

Lots of color and different breeds for sure!! Not all Amish are that way… although some view their animals as tools most of the ones that bring horses to sales treat them very well

Ruining the horse industry for all people except the ultra rich. This is the saddest video I may have ever seen. These are very nice horses, but no horse is worth this much money. Hope you all enjoy and realize that the average rider cannot afford these horses or the horses across the nation that now bring more money than most people can or should have to pay to be able to enjoy a good horse. This sale provides a ripple effect for every auction that uses online biddng along with a live sale day auction. My last remaining horse is 25 years old and my budget will not allow me to ever have another horse. Gone are the days when my pasture held a small herd of good horses that family and friends could enjoy riding and showing together.

Great video!!! 9:20 I'd get lost at that table if it's authentic Southwest jewelry!! Why do some of these horses sell for so much? Is it deep pockets, bragging rights as in I bought the horse that was the high seller? What, please help me out. PS. Be watching your mail, lol.🍀

The shops were tempting… I couldn’t stay long 😳 some horses are more desired than others. I guess in the end it’s how much people view the horses worth (color, age, training, personality) … we got some more books in the mail!! Do we have you to thank? ❤️

Yow. I guess we know where the money is - kid-safe. bombproof horses. a draft cross goes for $150,000? Oh, and buckskin seems to be the color of the day. I know you can do this, Amry. Go for it!

Great video today…I love watching the sales for a change of pace. I personally liked the dark palomino you liked, the #20 lot. Moved nice, nice and quiet. I’m not certain why it’s such a fad to make them lie down tacked up but whatever. I’m probably just behind the times. 😂 I love watching you train the colts, too, so I’m waiting for that next update. Thanks for sharing this great sale! ❤❤❤
