Jason Bourne Identity was a total shift of paradigm in action film making. It changed James Bond from Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, it created John Wick and practically everything else in action.

To be fair, I do miss Brosnan. He was on another level compared to Craig. That being said, Bourne's influence on the action genre can't be understaded. :)

@user-ct8cw1cx3p Ethan Hunt is more cerebral/espionage. I think him paired with Wick is a win for sure. He's not on the combat level of the other three, actually it's more of a Bourne vs Wick battle at that point, but paired with Mr. Wick, they'd dominate. Wick dominates anyway... Ethan Hunt on his side is just overkill. Just basing off of movie feats alone, Wick beats all 1v1. Wick vs 007 and Hunt is a win but close. So anyone on Wicks side wins. Just my opinion based off of movie feats.

Jason Bourne is one of my absolute favorite movie characters. I read the first book and love the way he was "modernized" to function in today's world. His reliance on his training to survive when he doesn't even know who he is speaks to the level he was trained by the government. And then to use that training against those who want to get rid of the inconvenience that they created is sweet. And great acting by everyone, especially the people in charge of Treadstone. The soundtrack is awesome. You know government agencies have their secret programs as depicted in these movies and the Manchurian Candidate.

They were trying to kill him because they didn't know what he was up to. The mission failed, but then he didn't check in. Had he gone rogue? Had he defected? They didn't know he had amnesia. Amnesia can be caused by any physical shock, so that might have been regular amnesia. But as you find out later, Jason's psychological responses might not be typical.

@@cameronrobinson3933 The books are almost NOTHING like the movies, but that's ok. I love both. The books deal with amnesia and what not, but it also deals with a cat and mouse game to lure someone out. The way it's done is pretty interesting because there's essentially 3 sides to it. And in the books Jason is an absolute tactician. He has plans within plans. He can change the way he walks and acts -- almost like he can become a new person whenever needed. Hence why he's referred to as The Chameleon. I highly recommend the books because they're veryyy heavy in the espionage part as well with a lot of action sprinkled in.

Hey Asia and BJ, Bourne wants a regular life as he watches the kids at the lay over house. Deep in his soul he has a code (NO WOMEN, NO KIDS). Seeing Wombsi kids made him hesitate and fail the mission. ------- He just wants to be a regular man not a world class GOD Tier assassin. ------- Clive Owens' dialogue lets us know so much, "They takes so much from us. Look at what they make you give." ------- The price of being a 007 agent is so high for sure.

4 and 5 weren't made to cash in. Universal's movie deal with Ludlum (author of the books) specified a certain number of films (I don't recall whether it was 5 or 6), so they had to keep making them even after Ludlum died before completing any more books beyond the first 3 or overseeing new scripts in the series. In a world with James Bond and Mission Impossible, the Bourne Trilogy may be the coolest of the spy genre films because they are the most grounded and realistic. The first 3 complete a narrative arc (based on books). The 4th one (Jeremy Renner) has different characters in the same universe, but delves into exactly how the program works and how these agents are so efficient. And the last & most recent one is basically an epilogue of Jason Bourne's specific arc (some would call a cash grab/studio suggested project - but not at all a bad film). Hope you watch them all! The most underrated aspect of the trilogy to me is the score. Just puts out that spy drama mood.

When they reference him being a 30 million dollar weapon they are talking about how much it cost to train him to be that weapon. All the guys they sent after him are the same as he is, Jason Bourne was the best hence why he didn't get killed. The last guy at the farmhouse said "see what they make us give" implying that they were one in the same.

Watching your reaction video is why I view and 'like' them, Asia and BJ. It started when Asia asked, " Shoo(t)! Whatcha gotta do to get into THAT part of the bank!?!". And then it continued when she told BJ, "It started at the bank with the guy lookin' at him sideways". Then at the US embassy when Bourne is escaping, BJ commenting "There's a lock on it...he (Bourne) said damn the lock!". Identifying this movie with the "John Wick" movie is vice-versa. "The Bourne Identity" (2002) came 12 years before Wick (2014).

One of my favorite movie series ever! You have to watch all of them. Even the one without Matt Damon is good. My personal ranking is Supremacy (2nd movie), Identity, Legacy (4th), Ultimatum (3rd), and Jason Bourne (the last one). Enjoy them all!

Great choice. This is a franchise so now you can watch the next two movies and that’ll answer all the questions that you have. The martial arts that he trained in is Jeet Kun Do which is the style created by Bruce Lee. Keanu Reeve from John Wick trained in the same style and he and Matt Damon are both experts which is why the fight scenes are so bad ass. 🕊❤️🎼

Jason Bourne character changed all of film making, in my opinion. First guy i ever saw stop to study a map, twice. John Wick's Godfather. You should read the books by Robert Ludlum. An actor turned novelist who knew nothing about the CIA but brought his own brand to life on paper and film

The Jason Bourne trilogy is absolute FIRE! You know how sequels aren't always as good as the original? The Bourne films are one of those exceptions - Matt Damon made a perfect Jason Bourne. Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum are all equally thrilling, all have insanely wicked car chases, kick-ass fight sequences, the camera work is CRAZY (you feel like you are going along for the ride with Jason Bourne); and the thriller level is off the chain. I love the music soundtracks on all of the films - it adds so much to an already excellent story, that builds as it goes along. It's a wild ride! According to the Robert Ludlum books, (found it online for a clear explanation) - Treadstone71 or Treadstone Seventy-One, per the novels, is a top-secret black ops program of the Central Intelligence Agency that recruited US Service members to turn them into nearly superhuman assassins. The program was formed in direct response to a Congressional Act that banned the US from partaking in assassinations. Treadstone71 used a behavior-modification program to break down the subjects’ morality to make them effective weapons. In the novels, it was formed after the Vietnam War. The program was so top-secret that several Deputy Directors of the CIA had and continue to have no idea of its existence. The Treadstone headquarters is located in New York City in a seemingly dilapidated house. Treadstone operatives were highly trained in various killing techniques and the use of improvised weapons. They possessed proficiency in sharpshooting, explosives, vehicular operations, and hand-to-hand combat. The operatives, such as Jason Bourne, the eponymous character from the books, also possessed a heightened awareness of their surroundings, lightning-fast reflexes, and other physical attributes. As you watch the next films in the Bourne series, it will make more sense.

BJ, the “fighting style”, if you can call a style, is close to what taught to covert agents. It’s not like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee but direct put down. And Asia, Jason doesn’t have a brother. You misheard what was said.
