The participants of the show themselves said that the editing made Shun seem really moody but that in reality he was fun and bright, so keep in mind that the editing is misrepresenting Shun when watching this. He just doesn’t want to get hurt and so thinks things over severely. I actually relate to him a lot on this cuz love when you’re over aware that there’s a possibility of getting hurt and aren’t care free is hard. After you have heard Shun's background story you need to understand how Shun's feeling. He feels that no one can truly love him and that's why he searches for bad aspects in Dai even though he only showed good intentions towards Shun. He's afraid to trust people easily and to give his heart to someone else. That's why Dai is perfect for him, he cares for him

It's so interesting to hear different perspectives on the discussion about politics they had. To me it felt quite obvious that Alan has come to his philosophy of life after having gone through a lot and not because of naivety. Like he's not positive because he doesn't know the negative, he knows the negative very well and has STILL chosen to view the world with love and kindness. That takes immense strength and bravery I think. However, considering Dai and Alan never had a deep relationship and probably only saw each other in non-heavy situations it's not that strange Dai thinks Alan's positivity is based on a life of no struggles.

i feel like even on my first watch of this show i could understand most of shun's behavior. you guys are kind of watching him and expecting him to act and make decisions according to what you would personally do which isnt really fair. he's had a very unique childhood which shaped his entire personality in a very different way to most people. like how are you not drawing connections between his upbringing and all of his actions on this show? it all seems so obviously connected to me. he just needs space to learn and grow and dai really provides that for him.

I hated Shun at first for yanking Dai's chain like that. Dai was seriously interested and Shun was deliberately cruel to him to 'test' him (His childhood trauma does not entitle him to treat another decent human being like that). Dai has the patience of a Saint. Like Alex, I would have walked away from Shun after this date. I'm not into mental abuse, but Dai is a truly good person and also madly in love with Shun, so he decided to play the long game.

Talking from an asian perspective, it is somehow more enjoyable to me personally to watch asian dating shows rather than the western ones, because they are slower when it comes on skinships... name it kissing, n so on. Is it cultural thing? maybe 😅 Dating show or not, l'm not comfortable watchung ppl eating each others'faces after just knowing each other for couple of days. I also don't think it kills the vibe if the boys talking abt politics, it's actually showing that the participants of a dating show are not always shallow people who's looking for romance. Those are real ppl with real feelings n interests. I think the way Shun tip toeing, n Dai kinda speeding are just good signs that they both are being genuine. "Genuine" is a word which dating shows can't relate, until The Boyfriend exist. I hv the impression that Shun is actually the one who obviously wanted a real relationship that LASTS, not only for the viewers. That is why he is very cautious and it is breaking nerves in a way. But what is the point of chasing him if you gonna eventually gave up on him? l understand Shun a lot in this point. He is looking for a relationship that stays even AFTER the show, he had to make sure that the person he would gv his heart to is the right one. Shun seemed to be a spoiled brat, but he literally only has himself. He has to love and put himself first, because if things go wrong with the relationship, he has nobody to catch him fall. Yes he might hv friends, but not a family, a place n people you call home. I didnt say Shun is an easy person. He obviously is hard to catch 😅 so l'm rooting for him to find the one who can handle him and his edges.

That was a choice he made and we are all held to account for our actions and the effect those have on other people. I often wondered why he came on the show, because the odds of finding the right man with his method was almost zero - I am seriously impressed with Dai's emotional intelligence.

He was raised in an environment that didn't allow a person to speak or to communicate ..while Dai was raised in a loving family based on discussion and communication..their different personalities are due to the different environment they were raised in..he entered the program to have a family because he was lonely so much that he didn't want the program to end..he now learned the importance of talk and communication after dating Dai...he became more open and more talkative..he said a sentence I can't forget: why would I talk if that person doesn't want to try to understand me...a little empathy wouldn't hurt us 😅..the change that everyone notices now in his personality is the biggest proof..so stop blame him , it wasnt his fault

I disapproved of his behavior as well, even knowing where he was coming from - he was weeding out the superficial men, who want him because of his idol looks or as some sort of arm trophy. Problem was Dai was never that person and was serious about him and didn't deserve that kind of treatment - regardless of what Shun has been through.

As someone who is in a very happy queer relationship of 7 years.. this is not how you communicate... if you think people are meeting you for superficial purposes in your day to day life it is the choice that you have in people arpund you. All these men came to find love and he said himself that in the normal world he would have judged all of them by their looks... it is HIS perspective that is toxic...not everyone else.

Because Dai clearly didn't mind showing him his unconditional love. People these days really have no sympathy and expect perfect communication skills otherwise they shouldn't be in a relationship, when really if you love them you'll help them gain the confidence to express themselves, but it's "not my job" is always the response. Real life relationships have flaws and clearly they overcame their issues and shun came out a better man and I doubt he would have without Dai. Clearly you are not the one for Shun because you don't care about him enough to put in the effort, and you would inevitably fail, meanwhile shun was talking about getting married and having kids, he doesn't want to waste his time on someone who doesn't care and clearly Dai proved that he does. So I think they're a good match. Relationship dynamics are different for everyone. Some people need to be reassured while others are comfortable without it.

It feels like I've been waiting forever for this episode's reaction! I'm sorry to break it to you but Shun is really a brat, not just a little, as Taeheon said he's a "princess character" 😂 (I still love him though). He's definitely gonna put you on a roller coaster of emotions but it's gonna be worth it. Again, I love the discussion you're having and how you always mention the relevance of this show for Japan. As you've mentioned, it's nice that the cast members weren't afraid to talk about serious topics and their deep emotions because it really does make the viewers felt more connected to them. As Alan said in an interview, he wanted people to feel and understand that although it's a gay reality dating show, what they've been going through or what they're feeling is the same as everyone else regardless of gender, that at the end of the day 'we're all humans'. I think that's just beautiful and probably the reason why many loved this show.

Right? Even reading interviews after the show I see that he's so sensitive to certain things that are so specific that there's no way he's not on the spectrum. I've read a lot about how in Japan going to a psychologist is not a common thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was never diagnosed.
