I've listened to/watched a shit-ton of drum covers of all ranges on KZbin. It is very very hard to tell the difference between this and the original. This is exceptionally well done. The hi-hat work is particularly impressive. Damn good stuff. I downloaded this to learn all the nuances for the new cover band I'm in.

This was great. A joyous song and the drumming serves the sentiment perfectly. One cannot help but enjoy it. Stevie Wonders "Sir Duke " fills the same void

excellent work ... perfectly executed the rhythmic time of the song. the perfect work of the eighth notes in the hi hat ... very good the mix of the original audio and your section..very good work * by the way he kept finding the rhythm the drums the guitar and the voice practically as if it were a copy of the song of steely dan / reelin in the years *

As a young aspiring drummer who doesn’t even own a kit, I really hope I’ll be able play with as much confidence as you someday. This, and take the money and run by Steve Miller band are my favorite drum songs.

Thanks Brian! This is one video where I put the camera to the left instead of right to catch the hi hat stuff. But yes, I need another camera. 😃

Thank you for covering this song. You killed it. I am learning this song with a my band and I am fairly new to the drums. Listening and watching you makes it look effortless. I guess this isn't as hard as it seems to play. It's a shuffle. The biggest issue I have is high hat work. Your drums and cymbals sound fantastic. The more I hear Pastie cymbals. The more of a a fan I have become of them.

Hey man awesome cover! Would you be willing to share just the drum track? I'd love to track guitars over it!
@philc19113 жыл бұрын
Hi Cannon. I would be happy to but I just played along with the track and recorded everything into the camera so I don't have an isolated drum track. Thanks for watching!

Man, you are nailing these! I just watched the Rock With You one, too, your groove is genuinely effortless. It's wonderful to listen to! Do you play with a group?

Thanks very much Thomas. I do, but we don't play nearly as much as I'd like. Appreciate the comment!

Great song selection and execution. I really appreciate how you videotape your covers without fancy editing and effects. Sadly, all to often I see videos with heavy editing using different camera angles. I always suspect they're videotaping segments of the song separately then stringing them together to give the illusion they played them all the way through without mistakes. Not to mention those covers played incorrectly and highlighting how fancy and clever they are. Videos like this clearly show how the music is played and extremely helpful as a learning tool. Thumbs up and keep up your chops!
@philc19117 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Yes, an edit here and there would sometimes make things a bit easier! But I like to keep it pretty simple. Also, the track I'm playing to and the drum mics go straight from the mixer into the camera, so the mix I hear while playing to the track is exactly what ends up on the video. Appreciate all the comments!

why you hit the crashes with the tip of the stick insted of the shoulder??
@philc19118 жыл бұрын
Here I do both actually. But it does depend on the song. Some of the verses in this one require just light accents as opposed to shoulder crashes. Thanks for watching.
