The Boys is not what most people think of it, tbh. The *biggest misconception about The Boys* people have is that it's a "realistic" superhero genre TV series. Really, it's a big problem that people are calling it a "realistic" series for showing the corruption and violence by so-called superheroes BUT, I would say that in terms of realism & fantasy, *The Boys is as much of fantasy as MCU movies. Yes, thematically, they are both just fantasies.* The 'reality' is neither full of just goodness, nor just evilness. It has both things in a balanced manner. There is true nuance/greyness, not just either white or black. So, when it comes to portray the idea of 'What if Superheroes existed among us'.... MCU mostly shows the white side of this idea while The Boys mostly shows the black side and over-exaggerate it to many degrees to appeal us. But DC is in between. *DC shows true greyness/nuance because that's true reality. A lot of DC is the most realistic among these three....* even if The Boys was originally published by DC itself. Probably, a comic-book genre story which is the closest in showing the true realism of that idea.... is DC's *Watchmen* . Although, The Boys is the best in this genre when it comes to show the 'R-rated-ness' of this genre, BUT when it comes to *overall quality* of content, some of Marvel (except _almost_ whole MCU) and DC stuff is really ahead of The Boys. So, yes, The Boys is suprassing Marvel and DC but only in a FEW aspects, not the overall quality of some (but not all) of Marvel & DC stuff.
