I do believe he is a copy of homelander, however he hasn't shown the same lack of morality and actually has shown compassion. Maybe he becomes a good version of homelander and actually takes him down and becomes a true hero when he is revealed. Could be a good twist on the graphic novel. Either Black Noir is Butcher's brother Lenny in the TV show, or the writers DEFINITELY wanted us to think he is. They strooongly hinted at it in ep 5. Hughie asks, "and whatever happened to Lenny?" and BOOM we hear Black Noir arrive on the next beat, before Billy's mum can answer the question.

Imo I hope Black Noir is the "original Soldier boy" by that I mean if they follow captain america a bit from the comics, when steve rogers gets frozen there are actually a couple of other guys that become captain america afterward. So the season 3 soldier boy could just be a new guy that took up the mantle of soldier boy which wouldn't be to strange since he is a famous american supe from ww2, and Black Noir is the original one but is hiding from the public. It would make some sense because he clearly has the most fighting talent compared to the rest of the supes in general.

while I still believe Black Noir is Homelander's twin/clone, there might be another alternatives theories from my randomly wild mind LOL: + Black Noir is Soldier Boy twin/clones: we know that season 3 will be the debut of Soldier Boy & Jensen Ackles is the cast. I think he might get some wild roles & probably would also put Solidier Boy in a more pivotal role. + Black Noir is Tek Knight: Ok, my reasoning for this is because both supes have similar archetypes & inspired source of parodies. They are both skilled more on the technical & weaponry sides, also Tek knight supposed to be the parody of Batman/Iron Man, while Black Noir with his black costumes & edgy design/looks somewhat looks like the Batman of The Seven.

After watching some of his backstory in s3 now, I feel that he can still be a contingency.. just not a clone. perhaps edgar knew what he wanted to do concerning vought and painting the “supes” in a better light in the media. Soldier boy at that time was taken out of the picture so he went on to create homelander, but he obviously needed something to rein him in if he were to go over the edge. come in black noir who’s been most likely given v or healed/gotten an upgrade. him crying in season 2 to me was him perhaps remembering everything he’s been through before that point. just some thoughts while I impatiently wait for the next ep 🥲

1. I read the comics and know the ending that Black Noir is a Clone of HL's created to destroy him. . . I'm not saying it should be the same reveal. Instead being a Eviler Twin* still Loyal to Vaught because Black Noir was raised a little differently to HL's God Complex and Superiority ? Vouglebuam said in season 1 about raising pups from their Mother turns them cruel. Now we assumed he only did this with HL* but remember he was an Experiment possibly 1 Controlled . What If Black Noir was another Experiment vs HL's so similar isolated but maybe introduced a new control or variable to tweek or adjust compliance ? Like Repetitive Suggestion or Hypnosis to follow and trust Vaught or to be trained to target and eliminate specific people like HL or anyone Vaught chooses to eliminate, Black Noir's Job as we've seen today is assassinate threats , He's also Hyper Focused and Intelligent to gather intel track tragets and hide his own agenda , I'm pretty sure HL only knows the minimum of what Black Noir is up to he also gives the most breathing room ( While HL uses fear and intimidation on the rest of The 7 ) Edgar most likely knows Black Noir's day to day and sets his tasks if he needs to ? I have strong feeling Black Noir is there to kill HL but only when the time is right ? Plus nobody can even read Black Noir he doesn't talk he have advanced skills like Piano playing ? Theory: Black Noir is actually several Black Noirs. His superpower is he can clone himself, like Naruto or Multiple Man, but he keeps this power a secret. This power is a slight nod to his comic origin.

My theory is he's Mother's Milk's brother. In the comics MM had a brother who was born filled with compound V, he died from overexposure to the drug. MM was a supe in the comics too. MM in the series has stated that Vought ruined his life and his father tried to fight them, so I'm thinking he had a Supe brother who was taken away by Vought and "died."

He doesn't make a sound, and the only thing we got is context and others' responses to it, so figure that's what he does. But who knows really? Here is what I think will happen. The show runners have said they hope the show goes on for five seasons, this gives the kid who plays Ryan enough to time to grow a little. I think Becca will be killed by Homelander or Black Noir in a fight between the Boys and The Seven causing Ryan to go crazy and kill Homelander showing he's more powerful than his dad. Black Noir will probably be a clone of Billy and Homelander sorta like how Lex Luthor created Superboy from his cells and Superman's, a weaker clone but still effective.

You literally nailed exactly what I was thinking. A billy clone. I think that Noir follows the security footage of Butcher, and ends up finding Becca before revealing himself as the clone, unbenknownst to her, and ends up assaulting her. This leads the kid to believe that Butcher is evil (which he may be, but not like Noir).

Having just seen the first 4 episodes of S02, I think Edgar's "confidence" when dealing with Homelander stems from Edgar having super powers. My first suspicion was that Edgar exploded the CIA lady's head. Since Homelander is nearly invulnerable to external threats and having a vulnerability to internal attack hasn't even been explored, Edgar may know that he can pop Homelander's head with a thought. Then if Black Noir is a clone, possibly less powerful but still sharing similar powers, he can replace Homelander for PR.

In the Prime Video page for The Boys there are some extra features that have bios for the characters. In Black Noir's bio it says that his height and weight frequently changes. I think they have several Black Noirs just in case Homelander goes rogue.

Another idea I had, similar to what you said, I think that Black Noir is the Superboy to Homelander’s Superman. I think he’s a clone of Billy Butcher, technically making it his son, but having been injected with Compound V and Homelander’s DNA making him the Son of both Billy Butcher (Homelander’s arch nemesis similar to how Lex Luther is Superman Nemesis) and Homelander.

I do think that it is a Homelander Clone, however Vought found they couldn’t clone him completely. They might have multiple homelander clones that they can just swap out when each one gets injured. They may have grown up being told that they were meant to save the world, that they were meant for great things.

Honestly I feel bad for black noir. I feel like he’s the true hero in this universe. We’ve never seen him kill civilians like stormfront or homelander. Both queen mave and black noir I think are the good guys. They both haven’t killed anyone innocent. It’s sad to see him crying on the floor which shows he has actual emotions.

I keep hearing people say that Noir can’t be Homelander because Noir was burned by Naqib. Feel free to correct me, but I haven’t seen Homelander have to deal with any physical damage. Who’s to say Homelander’s body wouldn’t react the same way? Especially against an explosion that comes from powers manifested by compound V. Even the comic version of Homelander, whos powers include being immune to physical damage, dies from serious physical damage caused by a supe. For that matter, Noir is also killed by physical damage. It’s very likely that super healing is something they would give Homelander for the show. Homelander should have zero trouble blasting his way out from under the rubble that Kimiko’s brother brought down on him. It slows him down significantly, I think personally, it’s because Homelander doesn’t free himself until his wounds have healed, if only for the reason of not looking weak. I think Noir is currently hunting Billy, because he raped Becca, and Ryan is his son. Which is information he can’t have Billy or Homelander finding out about. Of course either Becca or Homelander could be lying about the nature of their sexual encounter. Becca claiming it was rape, and Homelander claiming it to be consensual. Homelander just found out he has a son, after spending the back half of the season trying to figure out why Billy is looking for him when he should flat out expect it if he did what Billy believed he did. I don’t think Homelander remembers sleeping with Billy’s wife, because he didn’t. Black Noir raped Becca as Homelander. But being told he has a son, this will be the first instance that Homelander has to face not remembering something he did, as in the comics where Noir commits multiple crimes as Homelander, leaving him to believe he did them. I think that Homelander is making up what he thinks happened, in his mind, obviously everyone would want to sleep with him, and relays that to Billy. I think the twist will be that Homelander kills Noir instead of the opposite.

I like this theory. It's just as much as a WTF as the original twist & makes sense considering one plot point left out (so far) is that all the Boys in the comics are also suped up on compound V. Another theory: there's more than just one Black Noir. Since we never see him unmasked, he could just be one of many that Vought has created for a variety of reasons (Homelander safeguard, super-soldier army for the DoD instead of supes, etc.). Ie, the one that opened the season fighting the super-terrorists isn't the one we saw searching for Billy.

Some say he's Homelander, others not so much. According to the people I've talked to regarding this, he's a much more demented version of Homelander and he's there to kill Homelander if he goes out of control. But also according to my sources, this show isn't following the comics. Some call this a reinvention of the series rather than an adaptation. My own thoughts? I think Black Noir is just this guy that Vought Engineered to specifically take out any member of the seven or the entire team should they go rogue. He never talks bc he physically can't. all of his most basic functions such as talking have been rerouted into his combat applications to make him a stronger being. I believe that under that mask is essentially a blank face with just two eyeballs and a mouth hence the reason why he always keeps his mask on at all times. And the only superpowers he has is healing and extreme durability. I mean he took a point blank blast from The Captain and instead of getting blasted apart, a piece of his face got burned along with a portion of his chest. I don't know what his armor is made out of but it's gotta be some pretty tough material like borderline adamantium to withstand that kind of blast. Just my own thoughts.

I think it would be incredible if they took a clone army approach. Black noir is just the face of an army of supes brainwashed wearing this outfit deployed throughout the world. What better contingency plan than a small army? Would be an amazing twist and allow for story development

I don't think they're going to use the same twist from the comics. I feel like Ryan is as close to that as we're going to get and I'm okay with that because the clone reveal always felt a bit tacked on to me. I think Black Noir might later be revealed to be a secret informant for Mallory, similar to Queen Maeve's relationship with the boys in the comics. This could explain his sudden interest in finding Butcher in episode 4 of this season. He seems to be very different from the comics. While he's clearly open to murder, he hasn't shown any interest in acts such as assault or harassment like in the comic (specifically to Annie and Hughie on separate occasions). He tends to keep to himself and I think that's going to be less of a joke and more of an important plot element later in the series.

Black Noir being a copy of Butcher makes a ton of sense to me. The only times we have seen him in action is against the Super Terrorist and Kimiko, both of which have super powers which might be a hint at him being the "Anti-Supe-Supe".

The only thing for sure is Black Noir might not be his exact clone as they casted Nathan Mitchell. They’ll probably go with a storyline along the lines of : Homelander showed early signs of not being manageable. Vought made Black Noir set him in a much more controlled environment, brain washing or a training that they though would ensure total control and allegiance.

I think that Black Noir is actually Butcher's brother. I mean, in the episode where Black Noir goes to attack Butcher and the group, a lot of talk about his brother was said. How he was a quiet boy and such. Before anything could be said about what actually happened to him, Black Noir attacks. Why would they bring up Butcher's brother at all if they where not going to use him in some important way. This would be a huge stab to Butcher.
