@@newthrash1221 Because saying "its about being trans" is an absolute dumbshit way of wording it. But the premise was always about using a pill to become who you really are. "Waking up". Gotta agree with Nick. You can’t retcon a story to fit later assumed narratives. The same thing happened with J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter. She retconned the sexuality of several key characters that had no indication of being other than what they already were, to please sjw fans. Just because the bros became sisters, doesn’t mean the matrix is now about trans people. Fake, and gay. And having paused this a few minutes in to comment, I now hear Nick point this exact situation out with Harry Potter. Very gay.

Difference is that with Harry Potter she was changing an entire characters story and characteristics. With this, the Wachowskis are just saying that the movie can be read through a trans lens. Looking at the difference between how you perceive yourself inside and in reality, as well as the use of pills to reach your true body, a lot of stuff can be read as a trans allegory. That doesn’t mean Neo and Morpheus are all trans, it just means that the story and the trans experience share some elements.

I recall learning the original plan for the character of Switch before either Wachowski had transitioned, so I believe there was some element of transgenderism within the original story, but I think it's absolutely insane for them to say the ENTIRE movie/series is about being trans. The making of the movie was very well documented and it's quite clearly/blatantly about man's dependence on and taking for granted of technology and natural resources, respectively. Also that computers and anime are cool. The Wachowskis love them some PCs and japan cartoons.

Honestly the subtext in the matrix is literally just the plot. Explain the plot of the movie and you’ve already seen it

They stole it from Heavy Metal magazines and scifi manga comics and Ghost in The Shell of course. The first Matrix movie was cool at the time, but the Wachowskis and wankers and the lack of substance in the sequels all reflected the artists inability to maintain their universe. The sequel fell apart right at the "rave" scene in Zion. Laurence Fishburnes head had increased in mass from alcoholism by atleast 20% in the sequel awkwardly taking up the frame, the whole cast and crew were partying so much from the success of the first film the following films went to shit and everyone cut their dicks off. Agent Smith is marginally salvageable as far as character development over the 3 films. Neo just floats off on a hospital stretcher pretending to be a blind shaolin monk imagery, blah I was glad it was over and have no interest in the 4th. Animatrix was a nice piece of art, enjoy kids.

Inspiration and stealing are very different terms, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean the premise of the movie is stolen. Wachowskis and the creators of the aforementioend animes got together and even shared a mutual respect for the genre so your argument that its stolen is retardation to the highest degree. It is completely common and not at all foreign for artists to get together and geek out over each others works, as it expands the universe of the genre, bringing more fans in. Also the primary inspiration for The Matrix was The Neuromancer which discusses the concept of a virtually accessible cyberspace known as "the Matrix". The series also grossed over a billion dollars, the sequel to the first one being the most financially successful one. If that's a failure to you, then you have a retarded view of what failure is. Your argument is about as dry as your wife's pussy.
