You gotta realize that nowadays the regulations are all the same and very safe to build that size of ship Back in 1912 they thought having it made out of iron would be too strong to break. And having it reinforced. Which was a new concept. Than having doors that block off water if there is a whole. The cold water and the impact is what caused the break. They disnt see it coming Now its 2020 and a ship that big doesn't sick to design flaws. Not to mention the crew took the ship in an area they weren't suppose too

Remember that late 2000s romantic movie that was just a run of the mill melodrama, but at the end there was a reveal that the guy worked at the WTC and there was a zoom out of him looking through the window in the early morning of 9/11. And that comes out of the blue, no foreshadowing, nothing. That was hilarious, it feels like a Nick punchline but Hollywood actually did it. It was a Rob Pattinson movie, fuck me if I will remember the name, but it’s very funny.

The titanic was engulfed into a cold water phenomenon where the air around the ship changed and askewed the horizon as it entered the Labrador current. This is why they didn't see the burg until the last minute and why several passengers said the stars looked bigger than normal that night. This cold water mirage also affected the potential rescue ship Californian that was within 10 miles from seeing they were sinking. The tragedy marked a major turning point in maritime safety with more lifeboats required and 24 hour radio vigil where someone is listening for distress calls non stop.

Gonna sound stupid but I forgot just how long Titanic really is. Like you forget how much time there is to fill with a 3 hour narrative. Was rewatching it about a year or two ago and that whole opening frame narrative with Bill Paxton and the crew goes on for about 20-25 minutes I swear. Like most films thirty minutes in, you’re through the first act and all the exposition. Titanic? You’re just about to meet the actual main characters, and they aren’t even on board yet
