thai aren't Austronesian, they are distinct people on their own called Tai-Kadai. Austronesian are like their neighbours Malaysia

Thai here! His accent sounds nearly perfect, there are some weird sounds here and there and I'm not sure if it's just how he sounds in Thai but overall he's like a native (which he is). Although the tone low key sounds like a monk chanting.

That's actually not false. When you speak in different language, you also think and adapt the behavior of that culture too and even tone and manners change. So yes , technically you became a different person. Source: I speak 3-4 language

Im bilingual, english and spanish, and pretty well versed in both, though I use english in my daily life. however when I speak spanish to my relatives and switch to english briefly, I adopt an accent? It just sounds more right to pronounce my english words in a “spanish tone” if that makes sense. People have also said my voice gets deeper and I sound like I speak faster in spanish. idk how it works but it just happens. I find myself spitting sentences out much quicker in spanish than in english.

@@chanchaiken5522 well apparently you’re not changing your voice exactly. Each language requires different vocal chords which make it sound like you’re a different person. I speak 2 other languages and I view English as my “middle voiced language” with the other two languages pitches being of higher and lower from English.

Yes, Thai is a cocktail language we mixed everything and some how it make sense. it's a mix of Native Thai, Khmer, Sanskrit, Pali and maybe some more I dont even know anymore xd edit: i just completely forgot about chiness we have a lot of it. usually will be every day staff like a chair we don't even have a actual thai word for that

English is a bit firster. Remember he said that in his childhood his mom trained him into using japanese too by.... Not talking to him until he says that in japanese? That implies that he either had some troubles with it in his early years or there were so many english speakers instead of both that he was at risk at almost skipping the moon speech.

The Boys should be proud of flexing their Native Language muscles. I originally didn't know Joey was half-Japanese until I read his wikipedia profile. Just like with Garnt, I didn't know he was born in Thailand until wikipedia. There was a special that the boys did when I discovered that Wales has its own language. My jaw dropped whne I heard Connor speaking Welsh.

Well, he is thai, full 100% southeast Asian, just grown up in UK. One of those lucky people that still got in touch with their culture. Coming from a southeast Asian myself, some people similar to garnt didn't even bother to learn about their culture as an Asian.

@@jnes624 parents fault, but children should still learn to have some integrity as they grow older, though that being said, learning about your family’s heritage is not mandatory in everyone’s life and they can rationalize it being pointless to them; some see no responsibility to learn about their family’s culture, and that’s reasonable if you think about it, though it all depends on how you view the world.

I'm so envious of people who speak multiple languages 😭 I'm Korean and Breizh, but I only speak English and limited French. But basically all of my friends speak 2-3 languages. Being third generation has its perks, being raised multilingual is not one of them.

Despite them being one of the few countries who do, when they say 'I'm X', it could mean that you're born and raised in that country or you've never been there but your great grandad was from there

@@bbhybris I get that! The internet is a global place after all. But yes, I'm ethnically Breizh and ethnically Korean, although I'm a US citizen and resident. I'm also a French citizen! I figured, however, that because I was listing two separate ethnic/national identities (rather than one), it would be easier to assume I was referencing ethnicity or culture rather than nationality.

Joey was born in Australia. Just because you speak 2 languages perfectly doesn't mean that the one that's not English is your "native". He (and his mom) had to go out of his way to learn Japanese.

Im pretty sure his mom was a native jp speaker, so she didn’t have to go out of her way to learn that. Guess it depends which one he learned first :p
