See the original. Randall’s Larry was too whiny and acerbic , “Ok I’ll try!” Just didn’t work, it’s supposed to be a moving, loving scene between two very butch men being honest and loving. In the remake it felt like a semi cat fight.

@@superamanda I don't agree with that. I personally think that it does well to the character. Because Larry is someone who doesn't say the words "I'm sorry" or "I am wrong" easily. It's not easy and well, almost practically never happens but, there he managed to say it in his way : "I'll try" in a almost broken voice. Just there, he shows his weakness and he knows. But, he does it for Hank, in front of everyone. He shows that he is sorry, and will do, for Hank. And Hank knows that of him, he knows Larry isn't the one saying sorry, saying "I messed up". Because Larry lacks confidence, it shows in his jealousy around Hank. He is afraid to loose Hank for someone "better" than him. And for someone who hides behind a fake confidence, it takes to shows vulnerability, even more in front of many people. So no, even little words which seems meaningless, can become a whole speech in the mouth of someone else. "I'll try" doesn't mean much to you, but to someone like Larry, it means something bigger, and Hank knows it. I think Larry is very well written, because he shows a complexity in his personality, a paradox.
