Ok. So can we normalize gay actors playing gay people? Because this movie was Spectacular!
@270MOX3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it depends on the intention of the movie. As the play's author said, there are different types of gay man, so also depends on the script. Sometimes you want an Emory character, sometimes you want an Alan character, or maybe a Harold character. Also, imagine if there are no gay man that are a good choice. They could get a non-gay actor to play that part. It's like the movie "Milk" with Sean Penn, James Franco, and Emile Hirsch. Three straight actors playing gay men, so, as I said before, it depends on the script
@izach283 жыл бұрын
@@270MOX Gay actors already don’t get jobs much as it is already so it should be about gay actors playing gay roles because not every gay person is the same.
@270MOX3 жыл бұрын
@@izach28 so if gay actors are the only people allowed to play gay characters, why they should play heterosexual characters too? They don't have that experience, so they must not be allowed to play them. Do you see what I mean? It's not the person. The script and its intention should be the one who decides what type of person should play the character.
@shawqin9923 жыл бұрын
@@270MOX As the previous comment says, gay actors get less opportunities than straight actors. They may get less straight roles after they come out. If many straight actors are competing for gay roles, gay actors have even fewer opportunities. (Same goes for any other LGBTQ actor.) It's not that straight actors are not ALLOWED to play gay characters. It's that, especially for already famous straight actors, they may want to remind themselves that so many gay actors may need that opportunity more than they do.
@270MOX Жыл бұрын
@@shawqin992 So everyone need to give gay characters to gay actors just for pityness? That's so lame. Imagine being a super good actor and he finds his best role ever... but he even though he gave an amazing audition, the role goes to the gay person only for being gay and only to "give them more opportunities". If they are fighting against discrimination, that's not the way

@@flanplan5903 Netflix can put it up on their catalogue. And bring a new audience to it. So there would be two versions. The 1970 Movie Adaptation. And the 2020 Broadway Stage version. Different medium would make the story more unique. Especially in a show like Boys in the Band, where the dialogue are very long. The use of long take on stage will emphasize the story.
