"So you put something in the ground, didn't look like much. You knew what you were going to get at the end of it. You put this thing in the ground and it's going to do what it's going to do. It doesn't know what it is, it doesn't know its purpose but it's moving to green beans. The gods plant us, they plant their will and their desire and we move towards the fruit we will eventually bear for them. If all goes well, that plant may not have made it. That plant may have fallen to a chill or circumstance, been eaten by something that didn't appreciate what put it there. But destiny has put you here and now and it hopes that you will bear its fruit. That's Destiny." "This is a Garden, a good garden. A lot of manure, but a good garden." I love Cad so much.

Did he come up with that on the spot or does he have that pre-written for an occasion like this?
@adamscholze
@adamscholze 3 жыл бұрын
@@cernstormrunner7263 I'm pretty sure he had that analogy ahead of time. He was on a Talks episode (I can't remember which one) And he said something to the effect of "Cad has a much more grandiose way of explaining destiny" and I'm pretty sure this is what that is. I don't think he wrote it out and rehearsed specifically, but he had the notion of what it was/is ahead of time.

Yeah, in retrospect it makes sense Caleb wouldn't be a fan of Orly's tattoos; getting magic-enhancing crystals embedded under his skin *again* is probably a hard sell XD

I like how all three of them are roleplaying their main stats perfectly. Caleb's intelligence shows that he is willing to ask the deep questions that get to the root of why he feels this way, with a tingle of pessimism in it, and knowledge that he believes this endgame can only end in disaster. Fjord, Charismatic in his own way values the companionship of both his allies and has that cockeyed optimism of someone who doesn't have a plan nor thinks of these types of scenarios. Where cadeuceus lays down some really valuable insight for those who believe in an all powerful god. He has the tinge of a platitude, but never talks down to his friends here he tells them how in his experience he's seen how destiny will bring them to their ultimate destination.

I love Travis's expressions as he's watching Taliesin, presumedly not a religious man, talk about faith and destiny in such a knowing manner.

It's very interesting to me for dnd characters to talk about destiny, especially being destined to meet their party members, because technically, they are. They were made by the players to have a story. So take what Taliesin/Caduceus says about destiny with the knowledge that the gods he talks about are the players, and the garden is the table. (I mean, in a way.)

Rewatching 2 campaign dialogues brings me much fuel for thinking, analysing and self-analysis. They're deep and powerful. Also i feel bad for my d&d party, where players don't want or don't know how get such in-game conversations. Like not combat, not some puzzle thinking scenario, but simple in-character talks.

I feel like Caduceus is the closest personification of what Taliesin himself represents to their circle of friends, and how they see him, love him, and respect his opinion and input. Just from his demeanor, how he presents himself, how he speaks from his time on Talks Machina and their other exposure tells, at least to me, that Taliesin is gentle and wise. They adore his talent, but Cad's kindly and insightful words seem to flow too easily through Taliesin to NOT be close to what he is to the rest of the CR group. Travis's small bewondered smile when Tal's giving his green beans monologue feels like he's heard this brand of gentle wisdom from Tal before. It's truly wholesome, what wonderful friends they are

I really like how the group flipped the normal gender roles. The Girls were out getting lit, getting tattooed, and in the case of Beau, passing out completely naked. And the guys were sitting around talking destiny.

Dominic O'neil yeah lol I was in the military and strangely enough it was like that for most of the people I knew. The females would go out party and get turnt and the males would mostly just hang and talk about life while drinking.( MOST not all of us but for the most part it was like that lol)

I also have had a lot of experience with this being the case. Of course I work in Christian missions so I guess that might have something to do with this, but still, I've seen this role-reversal more than a few times.
