for die hard brady fans.. the problem, here, was that one orig. cast member would remain Absent per EVERY attempted NEW 'Brady' series. Again, for the fans.. it was kinda' sad that all issues/ differences couldn't be resolved in time for the upcoming Brady projects. Because he added absolutely nothing to the show. By the way, whenever a sitcom adds a new little kid to its cast (because the original kid cast members are now too old), that is a sure sign that the show is about to bite the dust. The show died long before the final episode on the brady bunch the kid version...Due to the fact of Cousin Oliver. When shows add another person the show flops, as its their way of trying to stick with the old the kids as they were getting into their teens, and the way they kept making Cindy wear braids like she was still 5 years old.. If they kept up with the times and them getting older it might have worked , rather then scripting them to still be little tacker kids when they're adults
@rvpstudioscanada39915 жыл бұрын
Exactly! They treat these characters like cartoons. However, cartoons don’t age. That is why The Simpson’s has been with us for OVER 20 years. The kids never aged...unless it was a “dream” sequence.

@nassauguy488 жыл бұрын
ReeseMac Indeed. First of all, these shows and the actors in them were celebrated for their humor. Second, they provided an escape for viewers who wanted to see happy and functional families for whom everything turned out well in the end. Suddenly, the Bradys and the Cleavers and all the rest of these families were saddled with the same social ills from which viewers had sought to run. It was an emotional letdown for many people.

Bob Reed was correct when he said that Sherwood and Lloyd Schwartz were terrible writers. The success of the Bradys was a cultural fluke.
@rvpstudioscanada39915 жыл бұрын
I think that the Schwartz’s had a great original concept. Sherwood would bring in freelance writers which made both the Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island exceptional. However, either he stopped using these writers, OR he used ones who were TOO PREDICTABLE in their writing.. that the shows TOTALLY SUCKED later on. The problem is.. with writing.. you have to keep the show fresh and interesting... or NO ONE will watch. Sherwood DID milk 🥛 the Brady Bunch WAAAAAY TOO LONG, but GAVE UP on a FOURTH season on a highly successful show like Gilligan’s Island. His decision making skills were lacking later on in years.
