The reason the Brady Bunch will always be popular is because they portrayed the kind of family we all want. Not that there was much realism, but for most of us who came from dysfunctional or broken families, the Brady family embodied everything you would want in your own family.

I agree with what the people on the show said about why the show is still loved so much. It brings us back to a time that was much simpler then it is now. Life was not so complicated back then and much more carefree. A time when people REALLY talked to each other face to face, now people talk to others through cellphones, computers, which is nice but not like it was then. It was much more personal. Life was much easier then. But, I am glad I grew up when I did. It was the most incredible decade to grow up in the 70's.

My husband is a tough 'cowboy' type who did not watch The Brady Bunch when it ran the first time, as he was a little older and already staring his life. And he is the last person you would think would like 'The Brady Bunch'. But I got him watching it and when he goes to bed first, I can hear 'The Bradys' on the TV (which we only have as a monitor for a few select DVDs) in the bedroom. He truly enjoys it and so do I. I grew up watching the Brady Bunch, The Waltons and Little House On The Prairie. Shows with families that respected each other. The parents were there for their kids, the kids were typical kids and respectful of their parents and cared about each other even when driving each other batty. They don't make family shows like this anymore and people look back at when times were simplier and maybe yeah there were problems but typical growing pains trying to find where you fit in with your family and friends. That's why shows like these and a few others have lasted. Just fyi, the Brady Bunch was my introduction to Davy Jones and tte Monkees. The Monkees have gotten me through bouts of depression and anxiety. They're my go to when I need a pick me up and its from watching the Brady Bunch I was given that joy. I met Christopher Knight at the Morongo Casino back in 2015...I believe he was doing some kind of show there. I was an employee and made it a point to say hi to the man. I know this is going to sound strange/odd...but I felt overwhelmed by his humility, kindness, and genuine sense of politeness. It brought me back to when I watched the show as it was in it's first five years. The show was, for me at least, and oasis of respect and love that did not exist in our "family". The situation was actually pretty bad so the show was a portal to a life that I longed to be a part of. I remembered watching the show and wanting so bad to be treated like those kids were being treated...with love and respect. I don't think I made a good impression on Mr. Knight...I honestly felt overwhelmed and probably was really messing up what I wanted to say. The entire cast did an incredible job...and I'm sure that many others like myself, really appreciated the values that show manifested throughout it's five seasons. I'm just grateful I was able to meet him.

@Stephen - Don’t sell yourself short. I’m sure the impression you made was just fine. I also came from a dysfunctional and emotionally abusive household. Hear me hear me.....if you two ever read this,you guys were a part of my very fabric of growing up.Yes it was just "Tv"....but listen............you all have bonded far beyond tv into what I would call a real family.God bless it all.I met you Barry at the Harrisburg Farm show,and Maureen you look awesome and love you like I did in 74 at the end of the tv run.......Thank you all for being such a part of my growing up.

It was pretty obvious that you guys had good chemistry and so many young people nowadays they hope they have families like that. Be honest watching The Brady Bunch kind of made me feel like maybe it's possible to have a happy family. I am 40 and it was this show that made me think life did not have to so lonely and hopeless.

They don't make the shows like they use to.Oldies are the goldies.The morality and family values were the essence in these masterpieces of sitcoms.Always will love the Brady Bunch.

Really cute! “Marcia” looks fantastic! “Greg” not so much. “Bobby,” such a dorky awkward kid, is quite the intellectual. Love “Jan” speaking her mind!

I love how they are still a family after all these years. No family is like the Brady Bunch, but the whole cast built a family like the Brady Bunch!

Those of us who didn't have stable households and loving families marveled at how 8 people could do it. It was because they communicated or learned how to. Dad never went ballistic at the kids. Mom was always there and cared about their grades and intersibling rivalries, among others. Then you had their 2nd mom aka Alice who always had cookies at the ready and always made all that food. She cared deeply for them as well. So we saw that and felt how genuine it all was.

Some of these comments are so rude. Some thoughts should remain in your head, not spoken or written. It's something called manners.
@beautifuldreamer39915 жыл бұрын
I hear you, but,thx to Facebook and other social media,manners went out the window. I think social media has caused more hatred and divide than anything else in the world. It's done some good as well,but it sure is a double edge sword....

The Brady Bunch show and family was so loved because it was everybody's dream family that no one"really" had.So we could all leave our dysfunctional families for a moment and enjoy what a family should be like.
