I just listened to the new Brahms album. Excellent musicianship and wonderful rapport with pianist. A welcome addition to the corpus of recordings of the Brahms sonatas.

Wow!!! What a difference in the sound. That portamento to the F sharp at 4:25 - I have never heard any other violinist do that - it took me completely by surprise. What you have done is original and impressive. Who said, "...we've seen it all." ? (No, we haven't) I'm sure I'll hear quite a few more subtleties in phrasing and new approaches in fingering when I listen to the entire album. Your use of the bow is also different. Thank you for keeping music interesting and alive and relevant. !!!

it's a very nice effect that causes you to hear the harmony completely differently

Very glad you like it! I feel like the drastically different piano and gut strings caused me to play differently on many fronts. So glad you like it! The F# is something I stole from my teacher Rudolf Koelman :)

@@DanielKurganov I know, they mangle it badly. I have an MP3 download which is much better. The CD should arrive soon. I could not get it from a German distributor, so it is coming from the UK.

This is such a wonderful project!! Big congratulations on the recording to you & Костя ! Thank you for the history lesson too - what a journey to get closer to the soul of Brahms! Especially amazed with the tone color possibilities.

Thanks so much, Inna! The museum/collection of pianos is open to all, if you're ever in the central MA! They can talk for hours about all of the fascinating history and anecdotes from those times.

I started listenning on the third sonata. Magnificent rendition, great tone, superb technical skills. Best version with the Dumay/Pires dgg record maybe?

Thanks so much! I absolutely adore the Pires/Dumay recordings. Sometimes I can achieve his level of sound quality, but only sometimes :) #lifegoals

Very good album! One question of another topic, how many hours do you study per day both when you started and at this moment? Thanks!
