We've been using one for 19 years now , our first one was a Lawson which was the company's original name, very well built and has worked as advertised. We also have an aerway which works good but changing out the spikes is quite the chore and expensive. They have be very beneficial in our pasture management.

RanchWorx is all about durability and performance, so it's no surprise it's held up so well since its Lawson days. We're thrilled to hear it's been beneficial for your pasture management!

Some assembly required! This is funny, I have been watching farm videos and listening to farmers talk about how they no till. I have always been an advocate of no till as too many inches of top soil have blown away in the wind. However, you then create the issue of compaction. At some point you have un-compact your fields. This also applies for cow pastures. Cows can really compact a field causing fields not to grow. Aerators allow moisture and nutrients to reach the roots. In addion, aeration causes air to reach the roots of weeds. The air will kill those weeds. All around a great idea to aerate your fields every so many years.
@ranchworx
@ranchworx 28 күн бұрын
Absolutely, you've nailed it! Pasture aeration/restoration is key to breaking up compaction.

A. This is a good tool we have had a similar tool here in Ireland for a long time now and it is very effective as an airrator however I would say that the tyres are not really what I would like to see on it as it is quite heavy and we use it for compaction reasons and those little narrow tyres would not be great from a compaction perspective. B. Bit of advice run it in dry conditions and go as quickly as you can by doing this you will get better “shattering” . C. Also very useful after a long dry spell if very heavy rain expected run it over your ground and you will get far less runoff and vastly improved water retention on the field. Just a few observations after many years of use.

Here in Australia we have a similar machine called a “ crocodile “seeder and renovator. It works on a similar principle as this only the drum is filled with pasture seed that is deposited into the soil through an adjustable hole behind the blades. The “crocodile “ is probably more robust in construction because they are often dragged behind a dozer over fallen logs and timber. I’m sure this machine will be a big asset on your farm. Regards from Down Under.

@@ranchworx You are certainly welcome to demo one of your machines on my property, however a much bigger model than this one would be more appropriate. As for dealerships to sell and promote them, I would suggest the “try before you buy “ approach. To do a good job of the promotion put one on the back of a truck and drive around dealerships, show them first hand what it looks like and demo the thing so it can be seen in action. This would be an expensive exercise I know, but often seeing is believing. Hope my suggestion is useful. Regards from Down Under.

We've been no till singe 1999, back a few years we had a nice dry fall (for a change) St. Joseph Equipment brought us an Aerway to try. It did an excellent job fracturing the ground. On that one you could adjust the angle of the roller to make it more or less aggressive. Did half of our soybean acres and the next year it did seem to help the corn. Didn't do a yield check but just seat of the pants. But you will want to drag behind it. Run over a solid stone it WILL wake you up! Works, but too pricey for us to own.

@ranchworx 19 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Aerway definitely has a place in the market, especially at its price point. Every piece of equipment serves a different purpose, and it’s great that there are options for various needs and budgets. That said, when looking for more diverse functionality, long-term durability, and a setup that minimizes maintenance, sometimes investing a bit more upfront can lead to greater results over time. It's all about finding the right balance for your specific needs and goals. Thanks again for your input-it's always valuable to hear different perspectives!

@nickymurry1777 It is a process to increase you grass stand. Fall aeration helps to capture and store winter moisture, while spring aeration helps to stimulate root growth. The deep shattering of the soil allows water better water infiltration which increases your field capacity. It also allows roots to travel deeper to utilize that moisture. Deeper roots = Healthier plant.
