No wonder people are so misinformed 🙄 you don't need a "special tool" to adjust the oil pump on the original 400..lol..a carb screwdriver fits in there just fine 😂. Also, the 400.1 shares an air filter with the ms 462.

Hi, i'm from Germany and am waiting for such a video for months! Thank you so much. It is a very interesting new saw and i'm going to buy a 60-80cc saw by Stihl. I will wait on reviews on this saw and then see if it will get a 400.1, 462 or 500i.

Vergiss die 500i. Der Verbrauch.. da kann man gleich die Tankstelle mitkaufen. Mein Setup für Baumpflege und Fällungen: 201 TC, 261, 462 und 661. Die neue 400 ist aber auch gut.

@@derrasenmaher9730 Ja! Wir bezeichnen den 500i in den USA als Spritfresser.😆 Es ist seltsam für mich, dass deutsche Staatsbürger nie den ersten Zugang zum Kauf von Stihl-Produkten erhalten. Mein Freund von dort sagt, dass andere Länder sie bekommen, bevor er es kann.

@@IndianaDoug thats right because some Stihl products are manufactured in other countries. Like the BR 800 X, we only got the 800 C-E over here. The blowers (BR and BG), some Chainsaw models and trimmers/brushcutters, hedgetrimmer are made in the USA. The small Chainsaws are actually made in China. So I guess thats why. But its sad, I want some US-Models.

4:59 I think both saws have aluminium blocks Josh , it's only the piston in the original that is magnesium afaik . Also , re. balance you said the original was a bit rear heavy but later say it has an 18" bar while the new one has a 20" , try swapping them and try that balance again please.

Initial thoughts: wow, Stihl is building components just like Husqvarna. I mean look at the new carb and the muffler🤷🏻‍♂️. Regardless, it’s a great looking saw, but the original 400 is iconic! Stihl!!! Bad move for discontinuing the original 400.

Looks like the new 400 is a pretty good saw. Need to get my hands on one of these to see if it is worth it. I got plenty of Stihl saws and Husqvarna too. So lets See what it can do.

I never liked the 60cc Stihl saws. The Husky 562 MKII always felt better. Perhaps Stihl figured it out with this update.

I wish Husky made something in-between the 562XP and the 572XP (567XP Mark II) like Stihl has done. Also, the Stihl MS361 was a great saw; the 362 really took a step back.

To me this actually makes sense. Yeah it is not the same 400, but they couldnt call it a 363 because of the dislike of the 362. And the old 400 is too close in displacement to the 462. Even though it is excellent the old 400 is an odd size. If it makes serious power after mods people will stop crying so much.

Should have kept the Mg piston/67cc displacement and added 500i fuel injection. The big bore in a 60cc chassis was like dropping a LS in a Miata.

Im not against new and improved, but i dont want stihl to tryin become trendy with our professional products. The ms400c is often compared to the beloved 044 of yesteryear. Its lighter and more powerful than husqvarna 562xp and echo cs620. It was destined to be a classic for professionals and firewood cutters,but stihl wasn't satisfied and just had to change one of the best saws theyve offered in the last 20 years. If discontinuing the ms362 was the goal they such of done that with the release of the original 400.

saws crankcase is very anaemic looking around the clutch/vibration mount.... can see that breaking easy. And the exhaust looks very dolmar-ish, with the pipe sticking back into the cylinder 🤔.

The AV mount under the clutch is no upgrade by no means. It is a limiter and it has no meat to support. Ive seen MANY MS462 being hit there and breaking the magnesium crankcase there, so then the saw has no limiter and feels so loose. In this case it's pretty much the same. The previous MS400 has an MS361 style AV travel limiter in a very much sturdier crankcase, not prone to breaking.

Best be getting these before they are discontinued. Run one alot takes alot to get them broken in. Got rid of the two best firewood saws for a pos junk pile saw ,The new saw looks like a steatming turd!

Pretty sure the new version will be great, predominantly use Stihl hedgecutters, and they are indestructible! Don't use chainsaws that much, but couldn't be happier with my Husqvarna 455 Rancher! Can't go wrong with either Stihl or Husqvarna, top notch in my opinion!
