Brandos Fans & Friends, another one from the archives: “Walk on the Water” performed live at a festival in Lokeren Belgium, August 5th, 1993. It’s a well-known fact to anyone familiar with the band that Creedence has always been a huge influence on us (me especially..), and this song, the only one credited to both Tom and John Fogerty, was a mainstay in our live show in those early years, as well as being included on our debut album, “Honor Among Thieves.” For myself, almost since first hearing it on CCR’s debut album, the song had always been in the category of “songs I’d like to cover someday,” albeit with my own twist on it. I did bring it into my old band, The Allies, in our final months back in Seattle, but felt I could do so much more with it. After moving to NYC, I was resolved to include it with the new songs I was writing for The Brandos’ first album. By the time of this festival, we were using it as an encore, and and it never failed to be an effective one for us. This festival happened toward the end of a long and exhausting period of touring, and would be one of the last ever for the first lineup of the band, and still this rendition of the tune had a lot of spirit to it. The video production was done for regional television at the time, and is one of the better ones with some interesting camera angles (note the closeups on our foot-pedals..).
