Yeah, he was noticed during his time with the Stray Cats, and once again got recognition back during the Swing revival in the late 90's. He got a Grammy for "Sleepwalk" which is 4 minutes of guitar bliss: -highly- recommended. Big band, swing, rock-a-billy music hasn't gotten a lot of airplay in quite some time now, but Brian Setzer's absolutely a master of his craft.

The swing revival of the late 90s was such a cool time. I had just graduated from HS in 97 and me and my friends were swing dancing FREAKS! We used to go to this club called Frankie’s Blue Room that had Swing Night on Thursdays and we would dance till we dropped. I never sweat so much or had so much fun. Those were the DAYS!!! Wish it had lasted longer but so much great music came from that little microburst!

I remember this and it was a short lived fad. I'd rather listen to big band music from the original era or rock music. Setzer sound and image was watered down swing music into repetitive pop music format to fit in with the times. Although this isn't bad and still listenable in comparison to today's popular music, if one can even deem today's top 40 as music.

Even though the drug culture was prevalent in the 1960's to 1980's, there was still enough people who still continued to dance in those decades and appreciated it (don't forget those are three decades of the prominence on television of "American Bandstand", "Soul Train" and "Solid Gold".) I do feel that perhaps one things that got lost in dancing was some of the more togetherness of couples during more up tempo tunes, although that started to make a comeback and surprisingly so during the late-1970's and the Disco era -- check out the video on youtube for Van McCoy's "The Hustle" to witness that. The later half of the 1980's and the 1990's started to give us more songs that would be able to have couples dance up tempo tunes closer together. But I do agree that has seemed to have gotten loss, since sometime in the last decade, the importance (and even necessity, in my not so humble opinion) of the dance and not just right to the let's go to the bed, part. And this is despite the popularity of such television shows as "Dancing With the Stars". It's almost like people want to watch others dance, but not do so ourselves, which to me is so strange and stupid.

Swing dancing is soooo much fun, and the best exercise. BTW (for those who don't know) all those acrobatics and aerials in the video are *performance* swing. Social swing dancers (the rest of us) do NOT do that on the dance floor --- it's waaaay too dangerous to everyone else. It also hogs all the space, 'cause those moves need a lot of empty peripheral space. But there are plenty of fun (and funny) moves to be had with both feet on the ground. So much fun moving through space, to the music, communicating with your partners through movement. (Most people change partners throughout an evening of dance and dance with all different kinds of people. That's the social part of social dancing!)

I always know when you're not a huge fan of Brian Setzer - you always say "Seltzer" and not Setzer

+Adam Cybulski Totally, I was in HS when Big Band had a resurgence. I was a band geek and liked big band music already, so it was cool to see it become popular again.

I had forgotten all about this song until I heard a different version of it on Dancing with the Stars tonight! I loved this song and the video; not my typical type of music but I was instantly drawn to it when I saw the video on MTV years ago! Swing was it!!!

Holy shit... This brings back so many memories of listening to this song with my mom, wearing my "jump jive an' wail shoes" that, 14 years later, are still sitting on my dresser as a reminder of the awesome childhood I had. This song always makes me happy beyond words :)
