WELCOME TO DESIGN SEED!
This episode we will be sharing with you a double storey corner terrace house that has been transformed into a unique spacious home that caters for this young family.
A property spatial quality should not be dictated by the number of rooms, you may have more bedrooms but could potentially be feeling cooped up within constrain spaces.
This project is a perfect example of opening up spaces, connecting them into functional yet meaningful spaces that compliments their lifestyle.

The concept of light not only focuses on illuminating, but is another element that reinforces creativity. The architects did not only study the amount of light that enters, but also did so creatively 🥰

@@yamtze why not? If I have 2M budget, for example, I want to know if I should buy 1M property so I can set aside the balance 1M to achieve the same design standard. Financial factor can help inform and achieve good design mentality among Malaysians. Some people straight buy 2M house and no money left for design budget

Since they feature the owners, it's only ethical that they do not disclose the cost as that's somehow going over the finances of the owners. They are here only to showcase design. Also, as they are a luxury design company, prices are not to be discussed. Similar to how Chanel bags doesn't have a price tag attached on their boutique stores.

The solid materials will transmit heat faster than hollowed materials. I see them built it with solid brick. Usually a double-layers brick wall with air in between is better heatproof. One more thing that I'm concerned is the heat expansion of steel is much different than brick. So if they build brick walls with steel trusses and collumns. What is the method to keep the wall not having cracks at the contracted line between these 2 materials? Even a small crack will let the water leaked in.

Gr8 for the owners inside but a big brick & steel wall for all outside is hardly a positive social thing for the sunburn & community. What gets me throughout Asia, which is both good and somewhat bad, is that you can build right-up to the curtilage of the property basically build a massive separation wall with your neighbors on the perimeter, it’s quite impacting. So you’re the neighbor & “boom” you’ve got a massive wall beside you on your border, no air flow anymore, no nature strip or side path, think of that. Your clients have big $ to achieve these extraordinary nice homes.

Hi Emily, if u notice how the layout is planned, the red brick wall does not just function as an aesthetic feature but it also plays a role to block out the afternoon sun from beaming in directly into the property. The tree also shades out the direct sunlight from the wet kitchen. When we design for each and every property, the site analysis is crucial, thats where we put our expertise to the test. Studying sun orientation, how to create ever changing shadows for the interior, wind orientation for better flow and ventilation, and most importantly, space planning to improve the spatial quality. We hope this reply clears the clouds to give you a clearer understanding of our design intentions. After all, the intention of this channel is to boost and educate the purpose of Design. Cheers, and thank you Emily!
